GUH, no wonder I never beat #Crystalis before, crummy hit-detection, changing swords every 18 steps because one monster is only weak against fire, the next against wind, back to fire. . . !vgp

!SoCal and !LAbronies -- Not much new showing up for July, so basically just see here: rainbowdash.net/notice/1665437 One new event, though, is another !paintball day out in Escondido this Saturday (July 21st), so if that is relevant to your interests goto meetup.com/SoCalBronies/events/73389742/ and check it out!

I feel like I should point out the trick to saving the maximum amount on Steam sales, just in case anybody still didn't know it: never buy something unless it's a daily deal, a flash deal, or the last day of the sale. Anything else leaves you open to the possibility of the game you bought becoming cheaper on a daily/flash deal later. !vgp
Friday, 13-Jul-12 00:41:36 UTC from web-
@bitshift Not to mention the possibility of somebody gifting you the game.
-
Also, since there's voting this year for what should go on flash sales, keep an eye on that - you might be able to increase your chances of a game you want getting cheap. !vgp
-
@toksyuryel That too.
-
-
Oh hey, Spacechem is super-cheap on Steam right now. Not that I need a copy, but I would definitely recommend taking a look if you haven't already. !vgp
Thursday, 12-Jul-12 18:39:01 UTC from web-
@toksyuryel Not yet, no. No reason I couldn't fire it up now, though, since it was either that or do some more !Brogue.

@bitshift I got two~

@redenchilada Ooh.

So, I bought Wrath of the Lamb for The Binding of Isaac. Decided to try it. Ended up beating the game, which I hadn't done before previously. !vgp

!SoCal and !LAbronies -- Update on events for July. Of course, the #GrandGallopingGala is still slated for Friday the 27th (plenty of time to get a nice outfit for the event). San Diego Comic Con starts TOMORROW, and has several MLP sub-events including a breakfast and a panel on Friday and a big meet on Saturday. Friday the 20th there'll be a bonfire in San Diego, Saturday the 21st a meetup in Redondo Beach, and Sunday 22nd is still a "go" for Disney California Adventure. And it seems a fellow in Rowland Heights is having a 21+ birthday party on Friday the 27th for those unable or uninterested in attending the Gala. All this and things starting to take shape for August can be found at http://www.meetup.com/SoCalBronies/#upcoming

Well. After you get past the stupid levels in Nitronic Rush's Hardcore section, the rest are surprisingly fun! Of particular note is abusing the endless boost in the last course. !vgp

@redenchilada Oh hey, Nitronic Rush. Haven't played that in a while, but I did like it when I did. I should reinstall it. :O

!vgp Spec Ops: The Line looks like another generic shooter. All the commercials make it look otherwise. I'm pretty torn.
Tuesday, 03-Jul-12 04:38:16 UTC from StatusNet Android-
@carcino !vgp Instead of the typical "Buck yeah, American war hero!" storyline of most MMS games, Spec Ops takes the "War is hell" approach and really drives it home. || You are sent on what initially seems like a rescue mission, only to find yourself caught in an active war zone with no idea which side (if either) is "the bad guys", and having to defend yourself against both. || There are cutscenes -- perhaps a few more than strictly necessary -- to drive the story forward, but most of the story is told through in-game chatter between yourself and your teammates. || The game also allows you to make choices (with consequences) through the gameplay, rather than through any RPG-style dialogue. "Do I shoot this guy, or let him walk away?"; "Do I use this rocket launcher to clear the room of hostiles, or do I try to find another way around?"; "Do I go in guns blazing? oops, I just gunned down a civilian who was running for cover."
-
@puzzlemint @carcino !vgp In short, Spec Ops is a shades-of-grey style game that does its best to make you feel like crap. Which is refreshing, in a morbid kind of way.
-
@puzzlemint Oh fun.

!SoCal and !LAbronies -- mark your calendars, there's quite a bit going on this month! Saturday, July 7th, "Bronies Do Battle" at Jungle Island Paintball Park. And of course, there's the San Diego Comic Con, with four days of comics, cons, and . . . I can't think of a C-word for "ponies." Anyway, July 12th-15th, SDCC. On Saturday the 21st there will be a meet at the Redondo Beach Pier, and Sunday the 22nd there's a group going to Disney's California Adventure. And of course, on Friday, July 27th, 2012 -- the Grand Galloping Gala, with a swanky Las Pegasus theme! For information on all these and more, goto http://www.meetup.com/SoCalBronies/#upcoming

!vgp Been hearing that Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC is causing a lot of trouble with attacks on towns (As is my understanding, vampires can attack towns/cities without the player knowing and easily slaughter MANY NPCs). Can anyone really say how bad this is? I've got the PC version, so the DLC's not out for me yet, but when it is I'd rather know how many ghost towns I might be dealing with.
Sunday, 01-Jul-12 04:23:40 UTC from web-
@thunderdash !vgp Modders will fix it *shrug*

@puzzlemint !vgp Mmmm. Yeah, this is true, but I'm not entirely sure if I want to buy a DLC that needs modding to prevent serious gameplay consequences...
