  1. Moonfall was a great movie. It is not great for the reason they wanted it to be though. It's batcaveing hilarious.

  4. on one hand using AI to replicate actors’ and musicians’ voices is like really weird and shady and isn’t going to end well, but on the other hand, as an internet creator, it seems like a golden opportunity to parody movies that get popular artists to perform marginally related songs for the soundtracks by performing some stupid, tongue-in-cheek blockbuster-style song about Undertale and then using AI to replace my voice with Eminem or something like that.

    • @zeldatra You don't have to go that far. A friend of mine uses Text To Speech (AI assisted or not) for his game jam games. It is often a blessing not to hear the programmer doing the voices. I played too many game jam games where a non-native and heavily accented English speaker tries to speak into a crappy gaming-microphone in the most monotone and least engaging way. I genuinely think that the TTS from google at http://translate.google.com delivers better an emotion than these crappy attempts.

    • @zeldatra Just about the exact inverse of what I'm trying to do. Want them to believe a near-future cyberpunk urban center, with human/animal hybrids, which eventually develops real-deal Magic and ends up making contact with >3rd dimensional intelligence? Start with something standard, like a murder procedural, so they're not entirely flippin' lost lol

    • @scribus the way I see it - since *my* universe is usually grounded pretty firmly in reality, starting with some really crazy grape off the bat means nothing’s off the table. Futurama’s first season goes from 1999 New York to literally the edge of the universe, so for the entire rest of the show they could go literally anywhere in between.

    • @scribus Oh yeah. The USA is not very bike friendly from all the videos I've seen. I'd be terrified to cycle there and would do only that on the sidewalks if at all. To protect my bike from the elements and thieves I always put it back into the cellar. It takes a few minutes to put it in and out but at least it'll last a bit longer. A neighbor has a steel frame bike and it has developed an even rust coating.

    • @scribus could tell the guy was getting paid extra to push a particular brand too… he showed me the most expensive one first and was like “this one’s good for snow”, then showed me a seemingly identical one from another brand and was like “this one’s ok too, I guess… it’s made for all weather conditions… but it’s really not as good, I wouldn’t even bother”

The character switching mechanic in particular would make battles feel a lot less like you’re just mashing A for twenty minutes, and it’d be especially fitting post-III where there are now two trios of Keyblade wielders (plus Kairi)

Thursday, 30-Dec-21 17:57:33 UTC from web
    • @scribus I may or may not have had COVID over Christmas, couldn’t get tested though because no appointments were open. Whatever I did have is gone now so I guess it’s moot now, but I’m one of the only people at work who didn’t get a booster shot and the other one who didn’t was out sick before and after me, so it’s an easy conclusion to come to.

Thursday, 30-Dec-21 19:42:36 UTC in context
    • @zeldatra Ex GF reports 65% of people at her Xmas are now infected, with the boosted faring the best so far. Shame is, it's a total bone trying to get the booster. My grandma was told by her doctor that the earliest appointment was February; then, at Walgreen's, the guy in line behind her asked the cashier about boosters and she jumped in on the spot, no waiting! I got mine, no appointment, from the CVS in Target, but my brother went to (a different) Walgreen's even with no line, and was told to make an appointment.

  30. Petition to classify vaporware as a cryptid

Monday, 27-Dec-21 18:54:04 UTC from web
    • @scribus I'd imagine more a creature that affects people/corporations to become greedy with ambitions that results in vaporware. I imagine a millipede and snake hybrid (tail end rattle snake, body millipede, head snake with fangs) with large bug antennae with floofy balls at the ends. The cryptid uses the floofy balls to distract the victim and hide its hideous body and then bits the victim at the back of the head. The fangs inject some kind of venom that causes the feature creep/greed, which itself causes headaches and frustration. That is the nourishment it needs to asexually reproduce itself and affect others in the company.
