    1. @ponybis But I don't play those games so I have nothing to say about it. D:

        1. @ponybis But I'm busy drawing ponies and playing old PS games. :/

            1. @ponybis Alright alright, I'll check it out. Which one should I try and stuff?

              1. @flaxx Well there are DDR, Pop'n Music, and the original Beatmania (5 keys), but the PS2 has a much larger selection of all of those (Plus Beatmania IIDX) so if you have one of those that's a good plan. But you'll probably want to obtain proper controllers first which usually run around $30 from the internet for normal CS ones and upper 100-300 for the big Arcade perfect ones or metal DDR pads, but you don't want those for first plays. Also local gameshops should have really cheap DDR pads. My trade in place has them for like $5.

                1. @ponybis Alright, perhaps I'll try downloading some of them for my emulator. Too lazy/greedy/uninterested to buy stuff. Not a huge fan of rhythm games, unless you could Guitar Hero. :/

                  1. @flaxx There are emulators for every game out there, but keyboards and mice will only work well with Stepmania (DDR), osu! (Osu! Tattakke! Ouendan!/ Elite Beat Agent, also Taiko no Tatsujin), and you could play IIDX or Pop'n with a keyboard, but that would ruin the experience IMO.

                    1. @ponybis @flaxx Forgot to add. Don't emulate ISOs or ROMs or whatever on system emulators. They may seem perfect for most kinds of games, but they usually fall flat for rhythm games because of the precise timing required to play them well.

                    2. @ponybis Yeah, you're probably right... Still, I don't feel like trying to find and buy lots of stuff for games I doubt I'll even like. :/

                      1. @flaxx I recommend starting with DDR or something. It isn't quite as fun, but if you end up liking it it's a pretty good gateway into the other games and I personally think it's a bit easier than Guitar Hero, but some people disagree. Stepmania on the keyboard is kind of lame considering other Hand-Games have a lot more buttons (Pop'n has 9-key) while DDR has 4 (Pump it Up, another dancan' game has 5 buttons). Also if you have a PSP I highly recommend the DJ Max series (Hot Tunes is my favorite, Portable 3 is kind of lame). It's a clear-cut Beatmania rip-off, but the charts are tailored for the PSP and it's a fun way to get yourself accustomed to these sorts of games. It also has easy modo which is lacking in IIDX.

                        1. @ponybis Alright, I'll try that DDR game on an emulator just for you, and we'll see what happens. Not right now, though, it's too late for that. And nope, I don't have a PSP. :/

                      2. @flaxx I bought a PS2 controller to USB converter for my PC as well as TWO DDR Softpads for $10 on eBay once. The pads aren't great quality, but the converter lets me play Pop'n and IIDX on my PC. It requires knowing what you're doing, but it's easier than buying crap for a console and probably modding it to even be capable of playing other-regioned games. If you're willing to spend $30 on a video game you might like it's worth it, plus you can resell any controller that isn't a DDR mat pretty easily.
