Never played a sonic game. Probably should at some point. Do I have to play them in order or can I just read the story on Wikipedia and just jump in?

@1mudkip88 My advice? Sonic 2 is a great example of the "classic" Sonic gameplay.

@1mudkip88 Everyone will tell you to start with adventure, a that's where story started to come together in canon. But like I just said I've never played it due to my choice of console, I started with sonic heroes which despite having some awful voice acting for some of the "younger" characters, was Awsome!

@pallettwist I got confused at all the plot twists in Super Mario Bros. 'I'm sorry, the princess is in another castle'. I was all like, 'woooooooah'. And then, world 2? I was all like, hey, hey, they ain't gonna... they ain't gonna go there... fo sho... 'I'm sorry, you're princess is...'. MIND. BLOOOOWWN.

@pallettwist I'm pretty firmly in the retro camp. When the controls/stories/progression choices get too complicated, I confuse easily. I suck at turn-based RPGs for example. However, the story in FFIV and Chrono Trigger actually kept me trying (at least until I got irrevocably lost in the former).
