@ponydude2143 Yes, totally agree with you. Though the programs I'm talking about don't really have alternatives. I use Catia, MatLab, and a host of other CFD and FEA programs (yay acronyms!!)

Hey, guys, what's going on in this- Oh. Tech discussions. *Backs away slowly*
-
@flaxx No, it's fun! Really! It's not hard to understand once you get the basic idea of what's going on.
-
@rotation That sounds like pretending to be good at art by talking about how much you love MS paint.
-
@rotation I don't think that would end well.
-
@theonepony I'm sure it is. I just don't really have any interest in discussing it.
-
@rotation It is not without its purpose, but its purpose seems largely to be allowing people with no business programming the ability to program.
-
@rotation Nah, I'll just go play some Terraria while you guys continue.
-
@ponydude2143 Never used Python, but VB is a pest regardless.
-
@ponydude2143 uhgg.. talk about a train wreck. I've never been a big fan of python, not that there is anything wrong with it. I just prefer other languages such as C++ and while not really a language on their own, MATLab and Mathmatica
-
@rotation It's so widely used (and appreciated, it seems) that I kind of want to learn it, but at the same time I have no projects to program (except maybe a tower defense game, but whatever).
-
@ponydude2143 But syntax is what makes you feel smart when you discover a clever way to make your twitter page tell everyone you just farted!
-
@ponydude2143 I don't know, if you know what you're doing you can write a C++ code as clean as any python code. Python's coding is just a higher level language so it's easier for people to follow, especially if they're not the one who wrote it.
-
@ponydude2143 yeah and for me that makes python such a pain. Most of the programming I work on is transferred from one computer to the next and if the directories are messed up, no code :(
-
@ponydude2143 yeah which is all the labs here run, so python becomes cumbersome juggling between 10~15 computers. I dabbled with linux on my last computer and I had mixed feelings. Right now I'm running a bare bones Window's 7 64bit
-
@ponydude2143 That's what my iPad does. I've got SSH for my linux boxes and Logmein for graphical access to windows boxes.
-
@ponydude2143 SSH is fun. Wish I could get the necessary access to the router where I'm at. . .
-
@ponydude2143 well most of my programs for class/work aren't linux compatible so I always had to run it through wine or something similar. Though that wasn't really that bad. I don't know, I was always just 'meh'
-
@ponydude2143 yeah, my lab top and phone are both synced to my desktop so I always have everything no matter where I go which is by far my favorite feature ever.
