does anyone know anything about SOPA ?
-
@critialcloudkicker http://judiciary.house.gov/hearings/pdf/112%20HR%203261.pdf Now you know everything about SOPA
-
@critialcloudkicker Yeah, in spanish is a food made of boiled pasta. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_UoHsqFEgjQo/SEj0-xe0lzI/AAAAAAAABV0/ouKVlMmS8wo/s400/Sopa_legumes_3.jpg

@ceruleanspark that doesnt tell me whether the bill passed or not
-
@critialcloudkicker Oh! I thought you were asking about the bill itself! I have no idea. I assume if a conclusion had bee reached it'd be all over the tech blogosphere
-
@critialcloudkicker It will take several hearings before anything like that could happen. But it's not going to pass. I don't know why everyone's being so alarmist about it.
-
@shydash Didn't Obama basically say he'd veto the bill if it ever came to that?
-
@shydash @ceruleanspark I am not alarmist, I am more interested in it for I am so opposed to the whole idea. I guess I am just as opposed to this as I was to the whole Paladinium/Fritz idea of X years ago. Then again I do not live in America so I have NO idea how Congress even works, or how House is related to it, or what the names of the diffrent factions and/how/what the represent. Because of that, and connection problems with my modem ( I cant reach tumblr, nor facebook ATM ) I thought it passed already and some overzealous govnermenttype was already working on kicking DNS entries :o
-
@shydash Alarmist is the only way Cabal knows how to do activism. I've never not-seen him make a huge deal out of the things he considers important issues.

@ceruleanspark ... what is "veto" ing a bill ? ... because my immagination was jus busy cooking up "sending a letter by VTOL"... now I know that cant be right
-
@critialcloudkicker It's essentially saying "nope" and utilising his executive position to overrule what came before.
-
@ceruleanspark oh wow, since I doubt any of the previous presindents would do that... BEST COMBO BREAKER EVER :D http://tinyurl.com/3mufywj ... I need to read up on the american political system doh... any "for dummy" books out there ?
-
@critialcloudkicker veto 1629, from L. veto, lit. "I forbid," first person singular present indicative of vetare "forbid," of unknown origin. Used by Roman tribunes who opposed measures of the Senate or magistrates. The verb is recorded from 1706.
-
@critialcloudkicker In most presidential regimes, the head of state has the right to either create "emergency laws" or oppose existing ones, rendering them useless. It's mostly used for short periods of time until the organism in charge of laws review it.
-
@nerthos Well yea, its Latin alright. But since I know nearly nothing of the American political system, and since they DO have the most fancy military equipment. And cinse not all Americans know Latin, it could have been ANYTHING... including, but not limited to calling out to the american people to vote for themselves
-
@nerthos So the bill, which would be a law in this example, would become nullified and thrown before a "council" of some sorts for review, yes ?
-
@critialcloudkicker Yes. The president could nullify it and throw it back to the congress to modify or erase.
-
@nerthos any chance those are going to be the same people who originally let it pass ?
-
@critialcloudkicker hello
-
@critialcloudkicker Actually, in their system they don't vote for themselves. Every are votes a representative, who in turns votes one of the candidates for government.
-
@critialcloudkicker If they can get a majority vote congress can override the veto.
-
@critialcloudkicker Yeah, they're the same people. But they can't just write it again as it is, because they would enter a loop.
-
@colfax heyy buddy
-
@theawesomepinkpony how are you ? :D
-
@ponydude2143 No, but it's fun watching some people panic thinking it will.

@ponydude2143 I never said that there's a problem, in fact I'm very anti-democratic. Only people with enough knowledge should vote.
