@rotation My childhood...

@rotation No, but I have a sudden urge to take one of the planes from a Japanese carriers and bomb the hay out of Midway. And also: jeeps.
Thursday, 22-Dec-11 21:40:22 UTC from web-
@flaxx godmode cheat+german jeep :D
Thursday, 22-Dec-11 21:42:32 UTC from web-
@nerthos Never actually cheated, but I love the German jeeps. Especially running people over with them. :D
Thursday, 22-Dec-11 21:44:33 UTC from web-
@flaxx When playing solo, it was fun to put the godmode cheat and get on one of the german jeeps. They were incredibly fast, so if you run at full speed into a tank, the tank explodes xD You could kill 100 enemies in no time doing that. Obviously, in campaign, cheating was idiotic, since when you cheat the point count of your side is automatically set to 10 for that round, ruining the profile.

@nerthos Battlefield 1942 was my favorite game a few years back...
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:08:02 UTC from web-
@the20percent I played it lots a couple of years ago xD I loved how natural the vehicle control was, mostly the german jeep and some planes. My favourite one was the Panzer Tiger.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:09:34 UTC from web-
@nerthos Ugh... I hated having to kill those things... Well, it was easy in Operation Market Garden, where I just babysat the metallic bridge as an engineer, threw down some mines and explosion packs, and got the kills
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:12:44 UTC from web-
@the20percent I loved playing axis xD Nazis had the best outfits, vehicles and overall awesomeness. I loved that tank since childhood, so I always got my hands on one, playing as an engineer, and played all the round in it, with good results.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:16:09 UTC from web-
@nerthos Those japanese tanks were ridiculous... I think I set one on fire using bullets....
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:19:30 UTC from web-
@the20percent Yeah, they were lame, but the japanese planes were good :D
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:20:35 UTC from web-
@nerthos the zeroes were amazing... I was playing midway (my favorite map), and I ALWAYS get a zero... even if that means going over to the enemy aircraft carrier.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:21:53 UTC from web-
@the20percent Hehe... I loved to steal an enemy carrier and crash it aganist enemy battleships. If they didn't fire, I could destroy five before ruining the ship. And then I would just leave it very far, and suicide to respawn in one of my crafts or the island, and deprive the enemy from one of their crafts.

@rotation That game was so good... I don't know what new Battlefields are like, but I loved that one.
Thursday, 22-Dec-11 21:41:27 UTC from web -
@rotation No idea, but I remember me and my brother picking up a jeep each in one end of the island, and trying to drive through hordes of bots to the other end. It was amazing. Even though you usually took a bullet to the head sooner or later. :P

@rotation Battlefield was at first a war simulator, pretty reaistic in comparison to others. Now, with the new tide of softcore games, that genre is dying, with health regeneration, more ammo than a truck could carry, and some of the most important roles in a real war being almost pointless. It was a cooperative team game, now, as you describe it, it seems to me it's just another "deathmatch" shooting game. Never played anything newer than 2142, but I'll keep in mind that. I miss the hardcore times :(
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:14:32 UTC from web-
@nerthos Same here... I only played 1942 and 2142... both amazing games, but yeah... the genre is dying..
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:15:49 UTC from web-
@the20percent I played Vietnam a bit, but just testing it, not even a full round. The problem these days are the "casual gamers" that are flooding the markets, and the platforms messed. In the early '00s, internet games were played on a PC, and cooperative/versus on split screen in the same rooms, with friends, sharing a drink and some chips. Now everything is everything, I fear for the future of gaming T.T You have only to compare Skyrim with Morrowind, from a saga known for it's complexity.

@nerthos Same here, Battlefield 2 for the PC when I had it was realistic, in a way.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:16:51 UTC from web-
@stumperman07 I should play it, then. I never did it because until a while ago, my PC wasn't able to run "heavy" games.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:21:55 UTC from web-
@nerthos Battlefield 2 is a very old PC game, it should run fine.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:22:48 UTC from web-
@stumperman07 even linux plays it fine...
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:23:23 UTC from web -
@stumperman07 I was playing on a sempron 2800+ with a Radeon 9600pro (awesome GPU, but higly incompatible) and a geforce 6200 in the final days. But now, I have a PC capable of running everything, and I'm proud of it xD
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:26:02 UTC from web-
@nerthos nice.. my computer barely runs Skyrim, and its new... but then again, I have an i7 2600k processor, but have a crummy graphics card (GTS 450)... darn budgets :/
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:27:54 UTC from web-
@the20percent I'm playing it at full graphics at a 50% of the PC capacity. But, I'm not a fan of Intel, since athlon AMD was always better and cheaper. Right now I'm using a 1100t x6 3.3GHz, and a Sapphire ATI HD6870.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:31:00 UTC from web-
@nerthos AMD's falling behind in performance, ever since the thubans, and the bulldozers were a total flop... they do great when they're not under load, but when you put something heavy on them, they fall short... even in performance testing, intel seems to do better... and the graphics cards AMD gives out are pretty good, except they have horrid linux drivers :/
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:33:03 UTC from web-
@the20percent Oh, I don't use linux, nor I touched the Bulldozer line since it's too new to be perfected. But AMD owns ATI, wich are the best graphic cards in the market, and having the CPU/Chipset/GPU set from the same manufacturer optimizes both performance and compatibility. That way, even if an Intel CPU is better than an AMD one, AMD still wins.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:37:15 UTC from web-
@nerthos You can essentially count CPU and Chipset as one in the same, as you can't put an AMD processor in an Intel Chipset, or vice versa, and it doesn't matter if your CPU and graphics card are made by the same company, all that matters is that you don't have a bottleneck, such as bad graphics card/ good cpu or good graphics card/ bad cpu
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:46:33 UTC from web-
@the20percent In terms of performance, but not in compatibility. If the CPU/GPU/Chipset relation is bad, some programs and games could not work, or crash the computer.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:48:35 UTC from web-
@nerthos GPU drivers generally account for most hardware combinations. Its only apple who makes small drivers, because their hardware is extremely limited, so the number of combinations decrease.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:51:11 UTC from web-
@the20percent It is true that some drivers can fix those problems, but from personal experience as a technician, IT, or whatever it's called in english, I saw lots of cases of that problems xD
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:54:20 UTC from web-
@nerthos then I guess don't get crappy combinations :/ I prefer Intel and Nvidia... but then again, I choose things that are shown to be compatible, and I never get blue screened... unless its on those half-crapped school computers, then I get blue screened
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:56:59 UTC from web-
@the20percent Yeah, in PCs I build, I never have compatibility issues, but still, most people don't understand or care about it.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:58:59 UTC from web-
@nerthos yeah :/

@nerthos That reminds me of a story... I was talking to a friend of mine about how windows is too unstable, and making fun of blue screens, then I turn around to my computer, and I see a blue screen... Made me laugh really loudly in the middle of chemistry class
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:58:28 UTC from web-
@the20percent I had a hard time mutilating Win7 to be usable xD

@nerthos no halo
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:17:53 UTC from web-
@problemedpony Halo was good, but because the regenerating shields and two weapons system were fit for the concept of that game.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:21:09 UTC from web-
@nerthos i have halo 1,2,and 3. never liked modern warfare(the name lies) and others.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:23:19 UTC from web-
@problemedpony I have halo 1, and the original modern warfare... I have way more respect for halo than I do for that cheap generic modern crud that is essentially call of duty revamped.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:25:02 UTC from web-
@the20percent ditto.
Friday, 23-Dec-11 00:26:11 UTC from web -
@the20percent Gears of war seems like the best of both worlds.

@problemedpony I only played the original Halo, I should download the second. But the third as far as I know is only Xbox, and a shooting game in a console? No, thanks. Call of Duty I never played, I was more th Medal of Honor kind, the first CoD was too short, and since then I never got my hands on any of the prequels. Now I think it's time to play all the saga xD
