  1. The earlier "discussion" here makes me want to write an angry blog post about brony philosophy.

    1. @ceruleanspark Is there such a thing?

      1. @nerthos I want to write angry things about people misusing the phrase "love and tolerance" to justify their own cowardice and inability to meaningfully handle conflict. The exact opposite of the message the show tries to give.

        1. @ceruleanspark I gave up expecting people to use words as they should, like, ten years ago. That means, when I was 8.

          1. @nerthos @ceruleanspark I still struggle with this. My problem is that is represents sloppy thinking.

            1. @patch Modern world. The western society literally has to man the apples up and put their pants on, as some would say. It's a too soft world we live on.

              1. @nerthos To hell with pants! Do you know what the weather's like here, man? :p

                2. @scribus Here's 35ºC some days, but I still wear my jeans.

                  1. @nerthos I am a very big fan of shorts. Go, California!

                    1. @scribus I just want to be the less exposed to sun possible.

                      1. @nerthos That is understandable, in its own way.

                        1. @scribus Both my grandma and my dad have a kind of skin that gets easily damaged by sun exposure. Luckily that's not the case THAT much with me, but I still hate sun.

                          1. @nerthos Yeah, that makes sense. I didn't get my first sunburn until high school, so it doesn't worry me that much.

                            1. @scribus I only get sunburnt after lots of exposure, like half a day at summer's sun, but still, the sensation of the sun in my skin is ugly.

              2. @nerthos It seems like every generation says this, don't they?

Friday, 30-Dec-11 08:50:42 UTC from web
                1. @patch Yes, it seems. Still I think a hundred and a half years ago, what today is a normal teenager would be beaten to a pulp by his father for being a little girl. And I don't mean abusive parents, but a normal man, expecting his son to be a real man too. Now everything's "psychological" and the sissification of the society is currently at an advanced state. It's weird to read this on a web dedicated to ponies, I know, but I feel that it's necessary to revert society to the "youre a man, be a man, you're a girl, be a girl" state. And don't get me started on the "screw future, I want to enjoy my life by ruining it" thing that started in the '60s

                  1. @nerthos hehe "Hundred and a half." Try thirty, depressingly enough...

                    1. @scribus Yeah, but thirty years before, that was starting to become the norm. A hundred years before, the cops would just laugh at you.

                      1. @nerthos Do I understand you correctly?

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:02:33 UTC from web
                        1. @patch I'm saying, that now everyone thinks that by whinning and claiming "human rights" they are by divine providence entitled to a life of luxury and things should be given to them, and that kind of things, instead of being men and working for what they want.

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:04:54 UTC from web
                          1. @nerthos So you feel like people are claiming to much as their right, expecting to have it handed to them without working for it?

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:09:24 UTC from web
                            1. @patch Exactly. They think they deserve happyness and their desires are going to rain from the heavens. So they don't work, they just do nothing, and whine when their lives turn miserable.

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:11:16 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos I think there's always been people like that, and people like (I assume) you and me.

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:13:20 UTC from web
                                1. @patch But, until a shile ago, the society didn't support them.

                  2. @nerthos I have to disagree with you, but I see where you're coming from: you think we've lost some fundamental guidelines and it's messed things up pretty bad.

Friday, 30-Dec-11 08:58:20 UTC from web
                    1. @patch Exactly. Now is everything about "be what you want to be, hippy tought, happy life" and not "Deal with the reality, and work hard to make it better"

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:01:56 UTC from web
                      1. @nerthos I think that maybe that trend of thought has come and gone throughout history. I feel like there's usually been a few people serious about getting things done, and most people just sort of drifting. That's probably changed a bit in times and places of crisis.

Friday, 30-Dec-11 09:06:12 UTC from web
                        1. @patch Yes. But the problem is, the only drift, and you're labeled as "the bad guy" when you just see that they're being cattle and you use them as such. They complain about how the world treats them, instead of working on it. But in other times, society said "Don't complain, you're a lazy useless idiot" but now, government and a good portion of the population respond to this with "yah bro, human rights, bla bla, you deserve better, just keep whinning, we're with you"
