  1. So is an RDN IRC server something people would want ever?

    1. @ceruleanspark A full server? Why not just get a new channel on canternet?

      1. @rotation 'cause I've got two servers of my own and I wanted to see what running an IRC server was like.

Wednesday, 29-Feb-12 18:28:37 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
          1. @zennx For saying people don't use IRC. Context was probably lost, whoops. xD

            1. @minti no I got that, but why a trout?

Wednesday, 29-Feb-12 18:30:39 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
              1. @zennx It's one of the IRC actions that come default with most IRC clients lol.

        1. @rotation My point remains, it's way too easy to fake being someone you are not, not to speak of how easy the protocol is to hack into, besides, why would you IRC if you have modern, more user frendly channels, like RDN, per example... also: (|-|1kz w|-|0 5P33|< |_337 4|23 7|-|3 |-|07 1|\||)33|)

Wednesday, 29-Feb-12 18:34:17 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
          1. @zennx IRC is used because it's lightweight. You mention using someone else's identity. RDN still has the session cookie bug where you can log in as someone else and post away. Nick registration is more secure than that.

            1. @rotation Lol. Session hijacking is common in most web software.

Wednesday, 29-Feb-12 18:38:29 UTC from web
              1. @minti That normally requires a little bit of effort. Here, none.

Wednesday, 29-Feb-12 18:39:13 UTC from web
                1. @rotation I honestly can't think of a way you could execute a session hijack on this site without some sort of XSS hole, all of which are either patched or the offending module disabled (=the reason we don't have auto-updating timelines)

Wednesday, 29-Feb-12 18:40:29 UTC from web
                  1. @minti What you do is log out of here and log in to RP. whisper the magic word and you'll be logged in on here as the RDN user with the same ID as your RP account.
