  1. So bloody bored, no one else is in and the power is still dead in my room. Think I'm gonna get the bus to go to Games Workshop #

    1. @leonkfox Oh my goodness you painted big macintosh into your OC. That's adorable.

      1. @ceruleanspark Eeyup. I got several stallion duplicates in yesterday's batch of blind bags (in fact they were all bloody duplicates besides Glow in the Dark Pinkie Pie) and he had the closest mane colour to my OC so I painted him blue :P I have an untouched Big Mac in my room as well. Just need to change his eye colour and add a cutie mark...once I EVENTUALLY think of one for him. ^^;

        1. @leonkfox What type of paint do you use, out of curiosity?

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:15:23 UTC from web
          1. @pony I use Citadel's paints, the ones used for painting miniatures for their table top war games. I had some for said purpose so decided to use the Citadel's starter set blue, it had a special name but I forget what it was xD

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:22:53 UTC from MuSTArDroid
            1. @leonkfox thanks for the info! I've seen some photos of painted figures but I kind of find the appearance of the brush strokes unpleasant personally. I can't tell on yours whether the texture is smooth or not.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:27:19 UTC from web
              1. @pony The citadel paints that games workshop sells are deliberately dilute to minimise the appearance of strokes on the models. The strokes on customs are caused by using too thick paints.

                1. @ceruleanspark @leonkfox nifty! I've been considering what to do with my duplicates once I buy a full box. I was worried all available paints looked thick like the ones I've seen.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:34:08 UTC from web
                  1. @pony Thick paints and coarse brushes ruin minitures. But, they're the cheapest, and most people don't know what they're doing.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:35:11 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                    1. @ceruleanspark @leonkfox This is great info. thanks! Do you have to apply several coats, a primer coat, or is a single direct coat enough?

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:41:20 UTC from web
                  2. @pony I would reccomend using Citadel's paints or ones that are very similar to them, for the reasons @ceruleanspark stated earlier.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:39:51 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                    1. @leonkfox I'm gonna go get some tonight, as someone just pointed out to me that my local GW is open till 8.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:40:26 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                      1. @ceruleanspark The one in Cribbs Causeway is open until 9pm, I think the one in Cabot Circus (or Bristol's "town" as it were) shuts really early in comparison though :/ One of the main reasons I prefer the Cribbs one at this moment. I need to buy some more of their undercoat black spray paint and a pot of blue, as the bloody thing opened and spilled inside one of my case's compartments x.x Thankfully not over any miniatures!

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:44:33 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                        1. @leonkfox Did you undercoat Big Mac? Would you recommend it if you were gonna do a full repaint?

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:45:24 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                          1. @ceruleanspark I'm not too sure, I kind of just covered him until he was the shame shade of blue all around really. ^^; I may try more intricate tricks further down the line.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:47:31 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                2. @ceruleanspark I had assumed as much, which is why I figured they would be good for painting such small plastic model ponies.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:39:02 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                  1. @leonkfox Yeah. Even I managed paint stroke-free models and I'm as cack handed as they come.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:39:56 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                    1. @ceruleanspark Likewise, you should see some of the faces on my Imperial Fists xD And I had to try and cover up some blue paint I got on my OC's mane and tail, hoping I managed to for the most part.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:41:26 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                      1. @leonkfox I can't remember. Does GW sell "Green Stuff" (yes, that is what it is called).

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:42:24 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                        1. @ceruleanspark I'm not entirely sure, I'll see if their online store stocks the colour you speak of, but it seems like an oddly simple name for a company that calls its yellow foundation something like "Iyan Darksun".

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:48:14 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                          1. @leonkfox It's not paint. It's a type of epoxy you can use to sculpt stuff on the models with. For instance: Making Applejack a tiny hat.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:49:16 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                            1. @ceruleanspark This is...entirley new to me, I really don't recall seeing anything like that in there, but I'll ask/take a look round when I get there nevertheless.

                                1. @ceruleanspark Thanks for the link, if the staff member/s get confused when I ask about "The green stuff" I'll be sure to use it as a reference. :)

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:56:24 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                                  1. @leonkfox As you can see, the stuff is actually named "Green Stuff", so hopefully they'll know what you mean.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:57:52 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                    1. @ceruleanspark Indeed. Still, won't hurt to have the link on hand just in case I suppose :) Wonder why it has such a...well, simple name though o.O Citadel normally love to come up with all kinds of names, I.e Iyan Darksun, Bleached Bone, Badab Black...it goes on. (One of those is a wash, but still!)

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 14:01:48 UTC from MuSTArDroid
                                    2. @ceruleanspark I asked a staff member in Games Workshop, and yes they do sell the "Green Stuff" :)

                                2. @ceruleanspark o.o yeah, thanks!

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:57:39 UTC from web
              2. @pony I'd say it was pretty smooth, but I'm no expert, I posted a full size version yesterday so you can take a look at that and see for yourself.

            1. @leonkfox @scribbs thats a point... I could order blindbags online... where should i look? and would they arrive through the post in a big pink package with MY LITTLE PONY stamped on it?

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:27:58 UTC from web
              1. @purplephish20 I saw someone on eBay that sells individual ones for about £4-ish, but you can choose your own ones

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:29:50 UTC from web
        3. @leonkfox Aww, I wish I could make my own custom, but we have no blind bags in my area and I don't have an paint or brushes.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:22:15 UTC from web
          1. @scribbs Sorry to hear that :( Is there no way to order them online?

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:24:16 UTC from MuSTArDroid
            1. @leonkfox There is, which is better, as I can choose which blind bag I want (a pegasus one preferably), but it does cost more and, like I said, I would have to get paint and brushes too.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:25:42 UTC from web
              1. @scribbs Showi Showi! Give me your address and I will send you ponies!

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:27:56 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                1. @ceruleanspark If you have a spare pegasus you don't need, then I guess I wouldn't mind. I mean, so long as delivery wouldn't be a problem.

                  1. @scribbs You don't have any singles at all Showi?

                    1. @ceruleanspark Aside from the Twilight I got from Southampton, nope.

                      1. @scribbs Is it a brushie?

                        1. @ceruleanspark Nope, the blind bag one, though I also have a Twilight brushie

                          1. @scribbs OK I was worried you had no brushies.

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:36:00 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                            1. @ceruleanspark I've got the whole mane six and a fashion Fluttershy. It's the blind bags I want, mostly because they're easier to custom make

Thursday, 01-Mar-12 13:36:50 UTC from web
                2. @ceruleanspark everypony should feel the touch of ceruleans throbbing generosity!
