Also the heatsink I bought wouldn't fit (It should I think) so I have a wittle stock heatsink from AMD
-
@jdamurdocky Why do you need more?

@nerthos Srsly, a good big heatsink will take 10degC off a CPU and it can do that without a fan and your PC will get so much more performance for that, also hot gear means it gets worn down quicker (gets slower quicker and dies quicker)
-
@jdagrapesy I'm using a phenom 1100t, with the default sink, and it's always in spec.

@nerthos What is it then? 60degC normally? 80degC when under load lol? stick a £20 heatsink on it and it'll never hit 80 (hardly)
-
@jdacherriesy I have my motherboard set to warn me when either the processor, chipset or GPU hits 60ºC, it never happened.

@nerthos lol ok, well either you dont do much (I do video encoding sometimes, 2.0 gaming and massive multitasking, hence buying 8GB ram) my old Core 2 Quad got very toasty before I upgraded the heatsink, anyway, tonnes of people do it, it's necassary for people :P
-
@jdadoley I do hardcore gaming and multitasking all the time.

@nerthos fine, well you havent said your PC's conditions or anything so yea.
-
@jdamangoesy 1100t, 6870, 8gbRAM 1600.

@nerthos you havent said cooling conditions but dont worry it doesnt even matter
-
@jdagrapesy Three fans in the case, and default for all the pieces

@nerthos I think I might be seeing what you were saying earlier, my Phenom II X4 @ 3.3GHz with the stock cooler in a half-decent case is keeping under 40degC easilly acording to coretemp, the same program never saw my Intell Core 2 Duo get anywhere near that low with arguably a better case and a muuuuch better heatsink!! amdftw?
-
@jdadoley AMD is master race.

@jdabananasy I have the same core, but mines stock to 3.2GHZ. I don't think it's ever reached 40.

@mrdragon That's just an alien thing for me comming from Intel Core 2 for the past five years or so

-
@jdakiwiy But you can't get a good AMD in a laptop.

@eaglehooves You could have ended that sentence 3 words early and it still would have been true.

@ceruleanspark Lies!
Wednesday, 04-Apr-12 18:23:23 UTC from web -
@ceruleanspark Sorry, I'm totally going AMD when I do a desktop build. Intel is expensive.
Wednesday, 04-Apr-12 18:24:29 UTC from web-
@eaglehooves I'm just being a jerk. I don't actually care about which faceless international corporation you choose to buy your goods from
Wednesday, 04-Apr-12 18:25:24 UTC from web-
@ceruleanspark Some people take those things seriously. My decision is totally based on AMD being the faceless international corporation that wants less of my money.
Wednesday, 04-Apr-12 18:26:16 UTC from web-
@eaglehooves That would be my reason for wanting an AMD system too. XD
Wednesday, 04-Apr-12 18:26:58 UTC from web -
@eaglehooves I know they do and it puzzles me no end.
