1. I'm surprised there isn't more admins on !rdndev. btw, anything new going on?

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:38:44 UTC from web
1. @zimzap That's because it's specific to RDN Plus, which can basically be thought of as next-gen RDN Refresh. And, no not really. xD

1. @minti It's like Duke Nukem Forever. It will take 10 years to make, and when finally released, it will be crap.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:42:08 UTC from web
1. @nerthos We've been trying to get it onto the site, but it likes to explode for some reason. >_<

1. @minti I hath foretold the truth. Drink in my wisdom.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:43:51 UTC from web
2. @minti We don't need another refresher, how about just fixing the ones we got?

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:43:23 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse That's the goal. To fix everything wrong with both of them, and so that the features are built into the site itself.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:44:36 UTC from web
1. @minti Why not just advertise the ones that exist? That way they get the choice. It just does not seem like it'd be worth the effort considering the amount of problems that sprout from tooling around with crap.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:49:11 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse Well first off, we're switching over to Realtime+Meteor eventually. Those will allow the site to referesh on it's own, without scripts and stuff. That just leaves the rich text features and stuff, which is what RDNPlus handles. Since it'll be built into the sites the mods won't have an excuse to disallow people to use it. :) (Plus it adds a bunch of stuff to the site that people already use, such as customizing the home pages style, the logo etc. And it's saved on the server so if you go to another computer your settings will exist there too.)

1. @minti Wow that was a lot more of a wall of text than I thought. xD

1. @minti it held my attention. what is metoer? the gcode page doesn't have a lot of information.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:53:54 UTC from web
2. @minti I have no clue what Realtime+Meteor is, but I don't at all trust it. it sounds like you're just trying to make this place Ponysquare or something.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:53:47 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse realtime sounds like it just updates in real time without a script.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:54:43 UTC from web
2. @alargesmallhorse No not at all, Realtime is just a plugin that does exactly what Refresh does, but it's developed by the people who made StatusNet. Meteor is the name of the backend server that allows it to do this (It's faster than refresh too!). RDNPlus is basically just an improvement upon RDNRefresh. xD

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:55:01 UTC from web
1. @minti >developed by the people who made Statusnet. Alright, now I really don't trust it.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:56:08 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse Bahaha. Point taken! We're fixing it up and stuff so it's not crap though. Just believe me when I say it's better. :P

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:56:39 UTC from web
3. @alargesmallhorse It was implemented once as a test. It justs refreshes as RDN refresh does. It adds a pause/play and time thing near "public timeline", nothing else. That time, though, it killed the server within a day.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:55:24 UTC from web
1. @nerthos I remember that being on for, like, 20 minutes and then the site being down for the rest of the day. it didn't even work to the slightest extent and it gave me miles of difficulties posting. I wouldn't even be able to use this site if that's the norm.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 00:58:40 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse Yeah that was a huge bug/lagfest. It won't be like that normally, normally it works exactly like RDN Refresh (just faster). Even so, if there's anything you guys don't like we can always change it. :p

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:00:02 UTC from web
1. @minti You'll constantly be changing it since that's what you guys do, though. You want ti perfect and won't stop until it is. I dunno, I just have to wait and see what the heck you guys do with the site.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:01:12 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse I doubt that actually, we don't have direct access to the site. :p

1. @alargesmallhorse Mhm, but it'll take weeks to get patches and stuff live, so bleh. xD

2. @alargesmallhorse Hehe, Ponydude always raged at me because I skip updates of RDNrefresh until something interesting is released.

1. @minti But he won't tell me WHAT exactly it fixes, so I won't blindly update.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:05:15 UTC from web
1. @nerthos Heh, I'll be totally honest and say I hate the menu it adds to the page. That's the main reason I don't use it (and why I made my own). >_>

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:07:20 UTC from web
1. @minti You have your own refresh script? I shall have to try it and compare the two. :O

1. @bitshift !mintrefresh xD

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:08:41 UTC from web
1. (# warning) Just installed !mintrefresh. Observations so far: I much prefer the style of the formatting buttons. I'm also liking the style of mention-highlighting a little better than the bright-red-name thing RDNrefresh does. The functionality I actually use (so not the page-style customization things) seems to be largely the same, and works well in both, so neither takes _or_ loses the lead on that point alone. Will continue using for a while, and see how it goes.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:15:23 UTC from web
1. @bitshift The only bug that I've yet to fix that is stupid is, well: Try going to any of the tag's pages and wait for it to refresh. xD

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:25:23 UTC from web
1. @nerthos It seems to be chrome only, and a bug in the browser itself so. No not really, I have no clue why it does it still. xD

2. @alargesmallhorse It's a known, and confirmed bug. I just don't know how to fix it cause it seems to be a browser bug rather than a script bug. http://i.tylian.net/WHeKz2.png

1. @minti I have difficulties believing this. I'm blaming Mintifresh

1. @alargesmallhorse It does it in RDN Refresh too.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:37:24 UTC from web

2. @minti That's another one for me to poke at tomorrow, then, since I already have my Chrome Portable install set up for Javascript debugging and such. :)

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:37:27 UTC from web
3. @minti While I haven't checked yet, I have an odd inkling it might be related to the way the whole text is changed via what seems to be the textContext property, based on its behaviour (which also breaks links, even when rot13'd back; gonna have a go at working round that too, unless you've already done that in an as-yet-unreleased version?).

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:42:31 UTC from web

1. @minti Mintaro is so cute.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:34:32 UTC from web
2. @minti I don't dislike the menu, but I'm not going to go and do as he says simply because he says. He doesn't understand some of us don't do things without knowing what is all about. That's usually the problem with developers. I may not be a coder, but I know exactly what I want to use.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:11:43 UTC from web
1. @nerthos That's sometimes the problem. I've listed some "bug fixes" in my changelogs cause I had NO clue how to actually describe it to a non coder. xD

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:13:25 UTC from web
1. @minti Hehe, that would be enough for me. He simply avoids the question, I don't like it, and he rages.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:14:46 UTC from web
2. @nerthos I stopped with RDNRefresh after he put in all that customization crap. He was getting mad at me when I refused to update as well. Glad MintiFresh came along.

1. @minti Pretty much. BTW, what do your updates to MintiFresh do? They never seem to change anything at all.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:09:01 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse Usually just behind the scenes bug fixes, optimizations and stuff. Trying to make it as un-intrusive as possible. The !mintrefresh page lists when ever I do an update and I usually try to describe what it is I did xD

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:10:14 UTC from web
1. @minti I just get more problems with it as you update it. I hardly even get In Context since the last one I got. Also, I see no info on that page as to updates.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:13:46 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse Heh, too many messages in between updates! I should write out a changelog somewhere. And the in-context thing hasn't changed between versions at all since I added it, been trying to figure out why sometimes the links don't appear. <_>

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:15:07 UTC from web
1. @minti The links won't appear about half the time and the most of the rest of the time, it will send me to either a completely unrelated conversation or to a blank page with an error on it. Also, you claimed to have fixed the favoriting thing a long time ago, but it has never been fixed for me. Not sure what's up with that or whatever.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:18:06 UTC from web

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:06:03 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
1. @redenchilada MintiFresh works much better anyway. RDN Refresh worked great and did it's job and is still probably in the lead in terms of customization, but it's outdated. I salute you for still using that, though.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:08:16 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse Muh. I'm honestly just too lazy to update. I've been meaning to try Mint's script.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:08:55 UTC from StatusNet Desktop

3. @alargesmallhorse I have yet to bring myself to download mintrefresh >.< I think I'll like it more since I like more minti's personality than ponydude's, and the work of coders is intrinsecally tied to their personalities.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:08:03 UTC from web
1. @nerthos eh. Mintifresh just works better. RDNRefresh was always giving me errors and updating inconsistantly and such. I get the occasional hiccup from Mintifresh, but it works better. If you like the customization on RDNRefresh, though, be warned that Mintifresh has nothing more than the simple text ones.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:11:15 UTC from web
1. @alargesmallhorse I barely use the text customization options, and now and then I set the custom style to old school RDN.

Thursday, 19-Apr-12 01:13:05 UTC from web
1. @nerthos What was that? Whenever I did that, it never did anything. What defines "old school RDN"?

2. @nerthos Oh, yeah. I just edited the CSS or whatever. That new color is painful when it's taking up the whole thing. it's nice to have on the sides, though.

1. @alargesmallhorse I still have the original ones on profile, but in the public timeline the only way is to use refresh.

2. @nerthos Which was funny cause it was running perfectly on ECH for the longest time. I loved it. xD

1. @minti Make sure you fix it so it loads the delete button for mods. :( I didn't like how it wouldn't do that.

1. @redenchilada It should do that now, actually. I'd go check but I can't be bothered to set up Meteor on my EC2 instance.

2. @minti Yeah, I think it's due to ECH veing an almost virgin stance, with next to zero use. This one is strongly customized already, and has lots of movement.

4. @alargesmallhorse It's a way to refresh that doesn't require running userscripts.

1. @redenchilada But running userscripts is so easy. besides, at this point, it's not entirely about the refreshing anymore.

1. @alargesmallhorse Yeah, but some people are on browsers that don't support the scripts or something like that.

2. @alargesmallhorse I think the concept is to take one of the refreshers and build it into the site.

2. @darkw00d on the mintifresh page on here. Look it up in groups. !mintfresh if it works. It's either "mintfresh" or mintifresh"
