@renovatedkitchen I've named two of my laptops. One is named Mada because it's an old compaq Armada, my first laptop, actually. (yes, it's not creative, but once I saw it, it stuck) and my other is named The Furnace because it overheats exponentially. It doesn't even have a GPU in it, and it goes nuts. Once for a virus scan (to actually clean a Trojan I had on it), I had to flip it on it's side and point a normal fan directly at the bottom so it wouldn't die in the middle of the scan. My newest computer has me stumped, though. I would name it something pony related, but I need to have named it for a reason and not just because I wanna name it for pony.

@techdisk42 (all computers have GPU's, some are built into the mobo, food for thought) those are fitting names. Mada sounds nice. I always flip my dell on its side or it overheats. Thank you nvidia. I called my epic computer the furnace. After ~15 min of gaming, I had to open the windows and doors due to heat (mid winter)

@renovatedkitchen well, not really. The Furnace probably does have a crappy one on the motherboard (I'll open it up and check at some point), but computers these days actually have the integrated graphics inside the processor itself. Though it was true that the integrated graphics was included on mobos in the past, Intel is now putting them directly into the processor.

@techdisk42 intel is doing it too? I thought that AMD Vision processors were the first/only ones? Which is why apple is going to be using AMD now (rumored to be true). I still personally like to refer to it as a GPU.

@renovatedkitchen yup! All of intel's core i_ have GPUs. And yeah, I like Mada as a name for my first laptop. It's like a netbook that runs windows NT and puppy Linux. Pentium II. It also has a dock that includes a CD drive, some speakers, and *gasp* a floppy drive. A laptop with a floppy drive. :D that's why I keep old stuff; its always cool to find something a little bit rare!

@renovatedkitchen Yup! And you could flip a switch and lift the laptop off of the base that carried all that stuff and it would be as small and as light as one of today's netbooks, but made of metal and the same speed as a normal laptop (of it's time) I love the thing to bits.

@renovatedkitchen unfortunately the musical instrument uses a totally different data connector than a normal drive so I can't use it for music. Unless I can find the proper pinouts for the little guy and find a way to plug wires into the extremely scaled down for laptop size connector, it's just a cool little piece of tech.

@renovatedkitchen both Mada and The furnace have fallen (I.e. Taken apart) to my screwdriver set before, and I have been able to put em back together in working order as well. If water fell into my laptops, i would likely open up the case and air out the parts seperately so the water gets out ASAP

@renovatedkitchen no, the vision is a rebranded intrepid. the galant is, yes. also another that most miss is the Conquest, the only of the RWD DSM. There are a couple others that didnt sell well, so noone cares. also a thing to remember, mitsubishi bought out chrysler's part in dsm in 93, anything made are that are rebranded mitsubishi, not dsm. any of the early 90s dodge/chrysler cars featuring the 3.0L V6 are dsm as well, bc that 3.0 is a mitsubishi motor. so the spirit, shadow, lebaren, ect are technically dsm. my favorite is the Dodge Daytona. The 91-93 Daytona RT with the manual trans is awesome. The 3.0 mitsubishi motor, the dodge body, adn the trans is a Getrag. I had one and regret selling it.

Personally I know my next car will 99% be another talon, but the 3000gt vr4's are mighty tempting! It's a bummer that the body's were made here. It's the only flimsy part of my car.

@renovatedkitchen correction: my daytona was the Daytona Iroc. The Daytona Iroc R/T had a Turbo Lotus engine in it. but yes, my daytona was awesome /)^3^(\ Also i've heard lots of people say that neons are dsm. that is wrong for two reasons. dsm disbanded before the neon was made, and the engine is not a mitsubishi. the 420a, while used in some eclipse/talons, was not a mitsubishi engine. remember how i told you my buddy had a talon that kept blowing heads? thats bc his was a 420a, not a 4g63

@madykatt ah! Gotcha! Ya. The 420a's really aren't anything special. And yup. I know neons aren't DSM's. I would be embarrassed if they were ^_^ (kidding to all the neon owners). There was a case where someone swapped the srt-4 engine into a 420a DSM. Didn't fit too well though. does your buddy have an account on tuners?

@renovatedkitchen i just decided to read the specs of my old daytona. mine was 141hp v6. the iroc r/t was 224hp. mine had more torque, bc it was a v6, but still...

@renovatedkitchen Yeh but with 200ft-lbs of torque. The torque band peaks at 3k and the hp peaks at 5k. If you rev'd that thing up and dumped the clutch at 2500, then (once the tires stopped spinning) you would fly. Keep shifting that thing at 5500 and you would never leave that power band between the torque and hp. that thing killed every turbo'd honda i ran against. it also got me in ALOT of trouble. i'm not aloud to have cars that are fast anymore >.>

@madykatt ah... Ok, sorry, I gotta ask... 90mph is what in km/h? I don't understand imperial at all. I mean come on. Metric is all based on tens. 100 cm = 1 m. 1000m = 1 km. SIMPLE. Dang imperial scum... (had to make that skyrim reference, sorry :P)

@renovatedkitchen yeh it was the sohc 12valve version. the big reason that car was as fast as it was, was the getrag trans. the gearing was so close on it that once you got going, it was game over. i beat a 5.0 foxbody mustang with it. After i bypassed the speed limiter, i got it to 140mph... once.... never again...

@madykatt I thought getrag's were supposed to be good? (makers of the 6 speed in the mk4 supra) that sucks. Fastest I've gone was 160kmph, but I'm always a cautious driver. Don't like to speed. Yup. That's pretty bad. Explains your low redline, but also why you could have so much torque.

@renovatedkitchen getrag trans are some of the best, but they dont have "street driveability" the gears are too close together (ratios) so its hard to be subtle while driving. pair them with a good clutch and they'll make any engine act like it is powerful

@techdisk42 pretty much. americans would rather text msg their friends then shift their own gears. priorities people. then new cars started adding manual shift to the automatics.... if you wanna shift gears, then buy a standard...

@techdisk42 and that is where you are to be corrected. a standard will get better mpg then an automatic if driven currectly. a automatic never disengages the engine at speed, so it will always burn more fuel then needed when you are just coasting. with a standard, you push in the clutch while coasting and the rpms drop to idle speed. also with an auto, it decides what gear is best. in a standard, if you upshift early when you dont need acceleration then you dont waste fuel.

@madykatt subtle while driving. Something my 6 puck will never do. That's a bummer. Sti's got nice tranny's. 6 speeds with nice tight ratios. Great for a track or even a 1/4 mile.

@renovatedkitchen lets put it this way about getrag tranmissions. they put getrag 5spd in the 95-99 chevy cavalier z24. that is the only reason that car was even worth buying.

@renovatedkitchen the z24 of that year used the quad4 engine. the base cavalier used a ohv. The ohv was 100times more reliable then the dohc quad4. people thought that bc the quad4 hada timing chain, you didnt need to mess with it, so after 60k miles it would start making noise. the whole quad4 series engines had major head gasket issues. the transmission was the only reason the z24 was worth buying.
