  1. @techdisk42 and that is where you are to be corrected. a standard will get better mpg then an automatic if driven currectly. a automatic never disengages the engine at speed, so it will always burn more fuel then needed when you are just coasting. with a standard, you push in the clutch while coasting and the rpms drop to idle speed. also with an auto, it decides what gear is best. in a standard, if you upshift early when you dont need acceleration then you dont waste fuel.
