#ATTENTION I have watched my little pony friendship is magic since was 11 and I am now 13..... I have hid the fact that I watch mlp fim from my family for 2 years... And I don't know if I should tell them about it or not.... I think they may be weirded out if I told them.... So I ask the followers of RDN, should I tell my parents that I watch mlp fim? Reply me back your answer... I really want to tell them, but I just can't get around to telling them... I'm actually nervous about what there reponce will be... So, tell me if I should or not.

@rainbowdashsboyfriend It depends on your parents 100%. If you think there's a chance that they will be weirded out, then they probably will and you shouldn't tell them. But if you think it's more likely they won't care, go ahead.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend I don't see why anyone thinks they need to tell people. Or hide it. I don't tell my parents every single TV show I watch, and I didn't when I was 11, 13, whatever.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend Tell them, mine were shocked at first, but it gets better with time. lol
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend personally, I didn't hide it, but I didn't tell anyone either. The easiest way to stop hiding it is to only stop hiding it, and not directly tell. If they ask you, then you tell them. For example, if your watching the newest episode, don't hide that fact, but don't blurt out that you are watching it. Does that make sense?
-
@rarity that's thee thing though... They both work as medical call transfers, like they transfer calls to nurses... And they here a lot of weird stuff from those calls, and that's what motivates me to tell them, but then again my dad was in the navy and he thinks that his 2 sons will be manly like him, so I don't really want to disappointed him... So I'm kinda at a stale mate on this one....
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend What are they gonna do? Disown you for watching a cartoon? Seriously, the worst they could possibly do is make you explain it. Anytime I've told my family about things, they just use it to make fun of me.... loving family I have. I haven't told them about MLP:FiM, because frankly there is no point, it's none of their business.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend nice username XD
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend well, to echo @scribusstatham, why do you feel the need to tell them? This isn't something that you really "tell someone" in that way. Just watch it, and if they see you watching it and ask what's up tell them.
-
@danielmikaelson you know what, I like your positive attitude. :), but still I need some motivation... I stillnot sure...
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend Do it. At least you'd be able to live with yourself. And what can they do about it?
-
@madykatt exactly my point, I don't want to tell them, but et I do want to tell them... I'm very confused of what I must do...
-
@xxrainbowdashxx what is with you and saying 'nice username'? I mean you say it everyday...
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend I would also take techdisk42's opinion. Maybe don't outwardly tell them, but when they find out don't be ashamed, you have no reason to. Explain to them why you like it, I'm sure they won't be mad, at worst they might find it silly, but parents do that sometimes. I'm sure you'll be fine, I consider myself manly, and there are many a manly brony out there, so tell that to your father if that is a concern.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend Bring it up in conversation. Or mention that the internet has this thing for ponies going round
-
@rarity they ain't gonna be able to see it, and that's what bothers me... You guys keep saying that If they see me watch it, then I'll tell them... But I watch it in my room at night on my tablet...
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend then watch it on a computer or something.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend i say dont worry about it unless it comes up. they'll have to walk into you watching it before it will be worth explaining. no reason to be ashamed of it at all though, but what you watch really isn't anypony's business
-
@danielmikaelson I'm pretty sure at the worst, they'll tell me to stop watching a kids show and and find another show to replace mlp fim.... And I can't replace mlp fim, Because I love that showroom much to watch anything else, and I'll be at a loss if they tell me to find anothershow cause ill have to wait 6 months before I can watch the 3rd season of mlp fim, so I'll get hooked on another show before then...
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend oh did i already say it? o.o? don't remember XD sorry about that XD
-
@madykatt I ain't gonna be ashamed if I tell them, I might get a bit embarrassed if I told them, but what I'm thinking is posting my favorite episode of mlp fim on facebook and in the caption say that I'm a brony...
-
@xxrainbowdashxx np.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend if you gonna go that route, start by posting a (well made) PMV or something first. just to gauge the responses.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend if you really want, you could bring up an old episode and deliberately watch it at a time they can see you. Main point is: let them start the conversation.
-
@rarity I would, but my dad is always doing work on that computer, and the only other computer in my houses right next to my dad's computer...
-
@madykatt I'm srry, I don't know what a PMV is...
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend pony music video
-
@techdisk42 but that's a problem, I don't want to watch an episode when sum1 else is in the room....
-
@madykatt oh, I'm not sure they would get that at all, they will be really weirded out if they don't see an episode of the show first...
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend that facebook thing is likely your best shot. Change your status to "I'm 20% cooler" or something, and go up from there. If your parents actually use a computer or facebook (mine don't, so this didn't help at all for me) they will find out eventually through comments or something.
-
@techdisk42 what I was thinking was I just post my fav episode of mlp fim and say, I'm a brony.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend i think you are overreacting to the whole situation. I'm watching "Feeling Pinkie Keen" on my tv, with my roommate in the next room. It's not a big deal. If you want to drop a hint on facebook like that, then just post a well made PMV of a good song. Noone is gonna watch a whole episode, but people will listen to music ;)
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend that would work too!
-
@madykatt I know this will work with sum people, but my parents don't like music vids, they say it's annoying to see what some people(or ponys) are doing in a music vid.
-
@techdisk42 yah ill probably use ur idea if I tell them and they don't freak out over it.
-
@rainbowdashsboyfriend your parents sound unreasonably weird...
-
@madykatt they are both very intelligent, my dad makes over 100k a year, and my mom makes 80k a year...
