Specifically, for those interested, I moved all the images to a cookieless subdomain before. Statusnet actually lets you do this from the UI. However, moving the avatar folder breaks group avatars because some genius at statusnet has hardcoded the path. So I updated the paths in the database and they work again, but I'll bet the uploader uses a hard-coded path to a directory that doesnt exist anymore. So I just stuck in a symlink.

@flaredancer It's not actually that bad. Statusnet gives you a nice UI to do it all. It just doesn't then follow up the UI with the right sequence of actions.
