@pegasusninja I honestly don't know why you repeatedly ask people about free drawings. There's absolutely no obligation for them to finish the drawings in a timely manner if you're not paying them.

@flamingpandaomg Yeah, just counting my personal fetishes, not like, references or stuff like that, I know multiple artists who I would otherwise commission, but for the fact they routinely take 6 months+ to actually deliver on single image commissions.

@ceruleanspark Yeah I dunno. My furry interests are pretty tame and I've never issued a commission, so I couldn't give an honest opinion on how long they take.

@flamingpandaomg Most of the artists who are taking 6 months to deliver frequently will draw a load of art for themselves in the intervening time, then claim to be "Uninspired" when chased for progress.

@ceruleanspark I'm unfortunately that way, which is why I've never actually taken a legit commission ever. I fear stuff like that and don't wanna screw people over.

@ceruleanspark You have a 45-day filing limit on disputes, though. After that you can no longer dispute the charge.

@clayinthecarpet I would argue that if an artist who has demanded payment up front doesn't even have vague outline sketches to show you after a full month, you should probably just hit the button and back out of the deal as amicably as possible.

@ceruleanspark That is the absolute truth. Commissions should take ABSOLUTE PRECEDENCE over your own personal projects. I take orders for masks all the time, and always finish them as quickly as I can manage. Usually shipped within a week or two.

@clayinthecarpet I get the feeling, particularly in the furry community, that a lot of younger artists don't see a commission as a sale, or a contract, but as a way to get paid to do their hobby. You can spot the "Pro" artists because they have actual terms, estimated timelines and payment agreements associated with their commissions.

@ceruleanspark There are a lot of unprofessional scammers in the arts. A LOT of them. I've been on the receiving end of scams since day 1, even from big Hollywood names that everyone looked up to at one time. It's a minefield of potential money loss if you don't take steps to safeguard yourself against it.

@ceruleanspark Yeah, that's what I meant. And as for Ebay, it's exclusive there. I remember a time when Ebay used to let you send money orders. That got squashed.

@flamingpandaomg I know but I have a certain set of patience for things, for example, I can wait a month for something I ordered from Amazon cuz I know it takes that long, with an art request I do know that they have other things to do but I just try to remind them because I have a problem with paranoia
