  1. Ugh, CPU fan is still running at max power and I don't know why.

    1. @datpolishguy I have that problem at home often until I restart the computer. It's loud. :P

    2. @oracle Its loud as cherries. My CPU usage is pretty normal too. http://rainbowdash.net/url/567992

      1. @datpolishguy Check the BIOS setup. It might be set to always spin at max speed.

        1. @nerthos Alright, be right back

        2. @nerthos Nope. I couldn't find the option to change the speed.

          1. @datpolishguy Then maybe it's handled by the motherboard driver. You could always install a program to control it manually.

            1. @nerthos I'll see. Also do you think that maybe incorrect installation of the cooler might be also a problem. I remember once I messed up installing the fan for my old Q9950 and everytime I would start it would go to max power and my PC wouldn't POST

              1. @datpolishguy If the cooler is wrongly installed it might not work peoperly, causing the CPU temperature to go up and in turn set the fan to max, yes. But then again, it's almost impossible to mess it up since almost all hardware ony fits in one position. If you're worried about that, check the fan's power supply connector.

                1. @nerthos According to my motherboard's BIOS my CPU temp is 60 Celsius which is pretty normal for a CPU I think. It's not that big of a problem. Its just annoying.

                  1. @datpolishguy Mine runs at about 36ºC when sort of idle and about 65ºC when under heavy load, but then again the FX series works at a higher temperature than the Phenom series. But anyway, if you want it to go slower install a program t set the speed, altough the CPU fan shouldn't be too noisy. Mine barely makes any noise.

    7. @vt3c I don't know. My old motherboard which had the Q9950 came from my 2010 Dell Inspiron 540.
