So I just took off the heat sink to check the thermal paste. CPU came with it. It's stuck tight. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/606540

@neuraria You can use a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol/vodka/nail polish removed to gently remove the thermal paste, if you've got some to replace it with.

@ceruleanspark Alright. I'm checking to see if it melted or whatever people say could happen to it. Is there anything else I should check for?

@neuraria Pre-applied "pastes" melt because they're not actually paste. Legit paste just dries off into a dust over time.

@ceruleanspark Isn't Q-tip a rapper?

@neuraria Was the "thermal paste" already applied to the cooler? If so, that's a common thing. Get a piece of styrofoam or similar, stick the processor to ir for security, and separate it from the cooler with a thin blade. As soon as the blade penetrates a milimeter or so the processor will pop free.

@nerthos Nope. Aftermarket fan, applied it myself. Still, this doesn't look like dust. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/606548
