            2. @cavatina how goes it? Getting ready for college/

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:23:17 UTC from web
              1. @abigpony Nope, this is one of the days i dont have college. Really glad too, it's ironic now, the horrible bullying has subsided, but now the actual COURSE has become a mess for everyone. no one has motivation to go in now

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:27:25 UTC from web
                1. @cavatina Is this how all your courses are?

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:28:19 UTC from web
                  1. @hakupony Nope. Just the second year of this one. its been honestly a totally unstructured mess, no one (and i mean no one) knows what they need to do for the 2 projects, the teachers barely teach, the one person who HAS finished everything gets told off for not doing anything, but the teacher who is yet to mark his work. its all so stupid!

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:30:12 UTC from web
                    1. @cavatina What do you study?

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:31:14 UTC from web
                      1. @hakupony BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners. I'll give you an example of what we had to do this year. Develop a game. (We had to freaking use Games Factory OR Visual Basic). None of us got taught how to actually use either of those effectively for the task, so half of the year was spent fiddling, and they wondered why no one has finished the project yet

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:33:22 UTC from web
                        1. @cavatina The task is rather cool but if they tell you to use a certain software, I'd expect them to tell you how that software works.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:35:00 UTC from web
                          1. @hakupony The task IS cool, and yeah... I mean they showed us a tutorial on TGF. which is fine and dandy. but tutorials are folowed up by more teaching usually, talking the students through etc. This didnt happen. s all we knew how to effectively make, was a PONG clone. Just bahhhh XD

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:36:25 UTC from web
                            1. @cavatina Too bad, I hoped you'd cooked something awesome :)

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:38:02 UTC from web
                          2. @hakupony The name is kind of a misnomer. It's not a proper University tier diploma.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:37:37 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                            1. @ceruleanspark To be honest, I know little about foreign university cultures...

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:38:52 UTC from web
                              1. @hakupony In the UK, It's Primary School, Secondary School, College, University. The first two are compulsory. The second two are optional. College is free, University is paid. Cavatina is in College.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:40:12 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                1. @ceruleanspark Over here, university is free and we don't have College. We have "Fachhochschulen" - they have a higher emphasize on practical appliances while universities are more science-orientated.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:42:06 UTC from web
                                  1. @hakupony We used to have a division like that, but then society started treating the practical one as the "reject bin", so it was gotten rid of.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:43:13 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                    1. @ceruleanspark Universities have a higher reputation over here as well. I don' complain, I like science :P

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:44:26 UTC from web
                                      1. @hakupony The complaint was we were using it to basically sort people into "smart" and "dumb" categories. The new system uses the much more socially acceptable "Rich" and "poor" system

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:49:22 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                        1. @ceruleanspark Even if you sort between "smart" and "dump" it comes down to "rich" and "poor" - maybe not on an individual basis but it is not much of a difference on the sociological level.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:51:36 UTC from web
                                          1. @hakupony yeah but now we're being open about it. It flat out costs £27K to take a 3 year university degree now. Good luck, poor people.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:52:46 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                            1. @ceruleanspark For me, that would be a reason to get involved into politics. We have problems as well but at least we try to do something about it. I can't express what i think about that I can't say it without swearing.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:55:24 UTC from web
                                              1. @hakupony We all protested. Sit ins, dole flipped. Someone even assaulted a member of the royal family. They did it anyway.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:57:16 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                1. @ceruleanspark At least you tried and you have m respect for trying hard.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:01:25 UTC from web
                                                  1. @hakupony We do protest stuff in the UK. The government just ignores us or uses the media to smear us and our motives, then does whatever they want anyway.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:02:36 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                                    1. @ceruleanspark Well, even we know that your goverment failed hard in that regard because of the riots.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:05:19 UTC from web
                                    2. @ceruleanspark @hakupony Polytechnics right?

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:56:21 UTC from web
                    2. @cavatina I really wonder how they manage to mess up that bad collectively...

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:33:29 UTC from web
                2. @cavatina bullying? That was a problem? That's a shame.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:31:08 UTC from web
                  1. @abigpony For me it was yeah...jussst me

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:32:10 UTC from web
                    1. @cavatina Why? Seems messed up. oh well, you overcame it and now they're the ones struggling.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:34:04 UTC from web
                      1. @abigpony I'm struggling too, so badly though, the entire year is a mess

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:35:27 UTC from web
                        1. @cavatina Well that is most unfortunate. I suppose at this point the best I can do is wish you the best of luck. You'll get through this rough little period.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:39:38 UTC from web
    2. @cavatina good morning cava

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:04:58 UTC from web
    3. @comradescootaloo Yeah 'cause then noone would have a future or any incentive to improve themselves.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:58:25 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
      1. @ceruleanspark I don't improve myself for money. Heck, I study education - there is not much mone to be had with that.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:59:45 UTC from web
    4. @comradescootaloo I don't think it would work because as long as people think that Capitalism still works, people will not behave the way communism expects them to do. I like the idea and I think Marx was right in many of his ideas - but the Revolution could not happen today.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 09:59:05 UTC from web
    5. @comradescootaloo Works in our german brand of capitalism.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:00:40 UTC from web
    6. @comradescootaloo I don't really see what that has to do with communism.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:01:24 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    7. @comradescootaloo America =/= the world

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:04:03 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    8. @comradescootaloo and where does the money to support this endeavour come from? Universities don't operate for free.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:06:41 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    9. @comradescootaloo My point is that this is the german system which proves that you don't need Communism to achive that. I'm not denying that there are problems - poor people get worse marks because they are poor (because of how the human mind works) and the privvate media do their best to manipulate people for their benefit. In addition, people don't have enough knowledge to form an educated idea on what the partys really want - making them maniplatable for the media who are mostly in the hands of neoliberal think tanks.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:09:22 UTC from web
    10. @comradescootaloo Certainly. In this case, Haku is actually german. Germany has the most functional democracies in europe, the strongest economy and some of the best social utilities in the world (Transport, medicine and education, specifically). For them, communism is actually kind of a downgrade.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:10:54 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
      1. @ceruleanspark if it worked, it would be an upgrade. The problem is that you can't force the socialist revolution which would bring true communism. This is why all Communist states failed and became dictatorships under sickle and hammer.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:17:56 UTC from web
    11. @comradescootaloo and what happens when they try to interact with a non-communist economy, where they /are/ expected to pay for things, for instance, when importing?

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:13:55 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    12. @comradescootaloo If it is a system where Capital doesn't accumulate in private hads, it is communism.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:20:54 UTC from web
    13. @comradescootaloo Well, my Capitalism term is influenced by Bourdieu. The result is that it is Capitl for me if you have a priviledged access to power or to goods because you belong to a certain group (social Capital)

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:36:58 UTC from web
    14. @comradescootaloo Needs more Oligarchical collectivisism

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:39:46 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    15. @comradescootaloo No. What I want to say is that it doesn't make a difference if it is money or connections that makes you priviledged. Both is wrong for me.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:41:18 UTC from web
    16. @comradescootaloo Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:41:38 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    17. @comradescootaloo Vommunism: All vomit is owned by the state.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:44:38 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    18. @comradescootaloo This may be true on an international level but inside a country - even if that country is america, this is not the case, because most people have a rather decent life standart. There is a huge difference on how big the individual share is. The capitalism of the 19th century didchange and workers do no longer have to starve.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:44:57 UTC from web
    19. @comradescootaloo It was a serious question, rather than an allusion, what IS inherently bad about working for your money?

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:46:37 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
      1. @ceruleanspark Nothing is wrong with working for your living - the thing communism disagrees is letting your money work for you.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:47:42 UTC from web
        1. @hakupony Communism removes all reward from working for a living and turns it into a mindless obligation to the state.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:48:56 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
          1. @ceruleanspark The basic idea which founded Communism is that there is a conflict between work and Capital. The idea is that people who only have their working power don't prosper and this problem is to solve...

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:53:58 UTC from web
            1. @hakupony You can't solve the problem disenfranchised workers by telling them their work now belongs to the state though.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:56:06 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    20. @comradescootaloo My position is that what Stalin was was nothing but a result of the way Lenin implanted Socialism. First: Russia was not a capitalist developed country, second: if a socialist hegemony forces their system on others, this hegemony will conque the advantages and just found their wealth on social Capital.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:46:57 UTC from web
    21. @comradescootaloo I specifically put it in its own post so that you could see it was a sarcastic joke rather than "HAH, I SAW A TYPO YOUR POINT IS INVALID"

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:47:41 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    22. @comradescootaloo Of course I am. It's a sign that current capitalism fails in organising production but the problem is not big enough for a fundamental critic of Capitalism (or a revolution).

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:49:10 UTC from web
    23. @comradescootaloo There always are megalomaniacs and something is rong in a societyif they get the power.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:50:40 UTC from web
      1. @hakupony No, it's just evolution. The best sociopaths are expert manipulators and are close to undetectable.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:52:13 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
        1. @ceruleanspark Undetectable? Hiler wrote a book in which he wrote down everything he planned.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:57:57 UTC from web
          1. @hakupony Yes. The holocaust was also something of a giveaway.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:59:04 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    24. @comradescootaloo For me, that is just a lame excuse to place the blame on others.

Tuesday, 15-May-12 10:55:02 UTC from web
    25. @comradescootaloo I was commenting on the detection of sociopaths. A good sociopath doesn't try to eradicate millions of people. He is functionally undetectable. Ergo: Hitler wasn't a very good sociopath.
