        1. @jakefromstatefarm my parents have me in this nice little trap. I'm not allowed to take the test until i read the book, and i cant go up there to get it because i don't have a liscense.

    2. @jakefromstatefarm I don't NEED a driver's license. I failed the permit test, but in all honesty it doesn't bother me that much.

    3. @vt3c yeah, not a good idea to look in mirrors when switching lanes.

Tuesday, 04-Feb-14 22:11:59 UTC from web
    4. @rancidrob @vt3c I'm aware you have to do that, but that just seems... dangerous, to me. Same with driving 8 and 4. You don't have full control of the wheel at those hand positions, but apparently that's how you're supposed to drive.

    5. @vt3c Only other thing most people don't do is give semis a huge berth. You should do that.

      1. @themoetyphoon the Zone Ranger taught me that!

        1. @mrmattimation ?

          1. @themoetyphoon The DMV created a (poorly) animated CG cartoon called "the No-Zone" - which sounds more like a cartoon about adults who touch your private areas - and it's about a guy who goes around telling people to stay out of the blind spots of semis.

            1. @mrmattimation as awkward as that sounds, it is highly recommended. I've seen three wrecks with semis today alone because dumbasses were stuck up the semi's ass when we're in the middle of getting 10 inches of snow.

              1. @themoetyphoon Oh, I know that you gotta give semis a wide berth. That's like common sense. (At least, it SHOULD be.)

                1. @mrmattimation apparently not in Missouri, hyuck hyuck

    6. @sprite I always assumed you skid out of there like a badass and put the top down to your car while the truck explodes behind you.

Tuesday, 04-Feb-14 22:21:57 UTC from web
    7. @rancidrob Hmm. I suppose that makes sense. The way we position our mirrors here makes it so we can see a pretty wide area, but yeah, looking behind is starting to sound smarter. I'm sure my teacher told me that at some point.

Tuesday, 04-Feb-14 22:24:07 UTC from web
      1. @mrmattimation it doesn't matter how you position your mirrors, you'll always have blind spots. Please PLEASE don't ever rely on your side/rear view mirrors when changing lanes.

        1. @themoetyphoon Ok I just said I wouldn't.

          1. @mrmattimation Good lad.

    8. @rancidrob Oh, that. I thought you meant fully behind. Yeah, I already do that. At least, when I drive, anyway. I don't drive much.

Tuesday, 04-Feb-14 22:26:22 UTC from web
      1. @mrmattimation I assumed we were talking about the shoulders, not gazing out fully behind. Oops.

    9. @rancidrob Or getting on top of your car to see if the coast is clear. It may seem like a good idea, but it really isn't.

      1. @mrmattimation super glue your dog to the car facing backwards and mount a camera to its forehead and have that camera stream back to your phone that's mounted to your steering wheel

Tuesday, 04-Feb-14 22:31:37 UTC from web
        1. @themoetyphoon In your hand is better. If your phone is on the wheel, you can't send any tweets about how bad traffic is.

Tuesday, 04-Feb-14 22:33:07 UTC from web
          1. @mrmattimation mount it to a boxing glove on a spring and have that come out of the wheel so it comes out and punches you, reminding you to tweet about your very recent wreck

    10. @sprite I was actually considering trying something like that DYI for my car, because I can't afford to have a professional install an expensive thing like that
