  1. Guess who managed to get into his office and his desk this morning without using the keys?

        2. @ceruleanspark lol. Thats awesome! What kit did you use?

          1. @renovatedkitchen It was a five piece pick set from amazon. Used the wave-rake to set most of the pins in one pass, and then used the feeler pick to nudge the ones that were holding out. @hakupony

            1. @ceruleanspark Thats really neat! Definitely sounds like its worth the investment. I usually just have a couple bobby pin ones that I've rigged to be pretty okay. But those sound to be a lot quicker! Office doesn't use any pass cards?

              1. @renovatedkitchen You need one to open the external gate, and a second card to disable the building alarm. This was just the internal lock to my room. The exterior locks are all warded and equipped with strike-plates. The main door is also deadbolted at the top and bottom.

                1. @ceruleanspark Ah. kk. I was gonna say! Thats the least secure networking building Ive heard of :P.

                  1. @renovatedkitchen The hardware itself is in a locked rack too, with one of those weird circular locks like you get on vending machines.

                    1. @ceruleanspark Hmm. Thats kinda neat actually. At my dads office, all the servers are just locked in a regular server rack with the dinky little think on the side.

                      1. @renovatedkitchen Our server room has a terrible door lock and we can't bar the windows because it's a period building, so we had to secure the hardware internally.

                        1. @ceruleanspark Ah. Kk. Was gonna say. Tis a lot of heavy locks! What do you do at your work?

                          1. @renovatedkitchen There's a lot of intimate personal data here. This is our head office, so we've got complete client databases and the like.

                            1. @ceruleanspark I guess that makes sense. My dad works at Bell here in Toronto. There is surprisingly little security there is, knowing that all the lines go there and a lot of the servers are right above.

                              1. @renovatedkitchen If we lose the data, we get fined _per lost record_. That, multiplyed by Xtythousand records, is a nontrivial sum of money compared to the cost of a few locks and gate.s

                                1. @ceruleanspark Thats true. But it still worries me that they have like one sleeping security guard guarding the building where ALL of (believe it is) Canada's largest city) Toronto's homes and connections come in. Also linking the other side of Canada to the Montreal, where the main servers are.
