  1. Downloading and installing an official software update for my htc Desire Z. Not sure if it'll do anything major, but may as well see. !androidbronies !techponies

    1. @leonkfox Most often such updates up your Android version, mind telling me the version you're running and seeing if there is a difference after updating?

      1. @omni I don't see the htc Desire Z getting Android 4.0, that particular version was optimized for dual core devices, the Desire Z isn't a dual core phone. I'll use it a bit and see what it changed, if anything.

        1. @leonkfox Ah, okay. Well, I personally run CyanogenMod so I haven't received any updates from my vendor since... forever. Last (and only) upgrade I got from Samsung bumped my Android version to 2.3.3 (from 2.2.x) but nothing more.

          1. @omni I haven't dabbled into CynogenMod at all, to be honest, not sure if I will to be honest. Maybe when the Desire Z isn't my primary phone come January of next year.

            1. @leonkfox Of course, there are risks, yeah. However, for me, an unofficial CyanogenMod port made my device much more responsive and WAY faster (I would personally say up to 4 times as fast at times). But the reason I love it most are advanced features like being able to select my GPU governer.

              1. @omni Well, once the Android phone is my secondary device I was planning to keep it so that I could play with it and try these sorts of mods just for the hell of it. But whilst it's my primary phone I'd rather not risk buggering it up.

                1. @leonkfox Quite understandable, can't say that isn't a good idea.

                  1. @omni The most I've done as far as customising/changing up my phone is changing the default Launcher from Sense (I bloody hate Sense) to LauncherPro, and changing the phone dial/contact browsing app to Go Dialer Ex. That's it xD I'm content with the phone as a daily driver and don't feel the need to take any risks with it.
