@toksyuryel the mainboard is just 2,5 years old. i had PCs working for 10 years with one battery... but that offset occurs while running too
-
@qwc My current mobo CMOS battery died about six months to a year after I bought it. Sometimes it happens.

@toksyuryel heck! thanks for the tip. i'll try replacing the battery soon, hope it helps and its the only reason...
-
@toksyuryel well, replacing the cmos battery didn't help... -.-
-
@qwc Sounds like a faulty clock then. You might have to replace the whole board. I don't suppose it's still under warranty?

@toksyuryel nope it's not. my wife got problems with the same mobo config too, so i'll just have to buy 2 new ones. AVOID ASROCK boards!!
-
@qwc I'll add the brand to my list of brands to avoid. Thanks for the tip!

@toksyuryel which brands are on that list? so that i can avoid them at the little shopping tour next month... ;)
-
@qwc Foxconn and Biostar should be avoided like the plague.

@toksyuryel good. noted. i plan to buy a ASUS, one of the cheaper ones - with 3 year warranty... :)
-
@qwc ASUS is well-known for making high-quality boards, so they're not a bad choice to go with at all ☺

@toksyuryel @qwc do not buy #ASUS boards. I worked in a comp shop for 2 years, we sold lots of ASUS boards, all of them turned out faulty...
-
@toksyuryel @qwc ...could get the money back from the reseller and buy new ones for the client (who was furious by the time it happened)...
-
@toksyuryel @qwc ...what's more - when we send them to the service they weren't fixed, only faulty send back, 3 times until we as a shop...

@qwc Alternatively you can bypass the hardware clock and use ntpd, but I've found that to be very buggy for me (it really likes to segfault after an hour whenever I run it; maybe you'll have better luck?)
