  1. Our DnD group took a sarcophagus away from cultists who wanted to release their "master". We killed the main cultist who could release their master from it. We needed to flee but we didn't want that the cultists have the sarcophagus. So my wizard character removed some magic protection circles so we could take it away. Then we got away and stored it in a secure location in a player-owned tavern in the biggest city of the continent. A later we found dragonborns who seeks for places that have to do with a great prophecy. They told that a wizard from the shadows would release the master. The dragonborns think that the cultist would be the wizard from the shadows. Nope. My wizard had a backstory that he was re-born millions of times and shadows were involved with that. What happened in the "secure" location? The master escaped! The master was a dalkyr, an extremely powerful creature from the plane of madness. So my char is blamed fulfilling the prophecy and doom the world.

    1. @broniebrown Is it too late to prestige as a lawyer?

      1. @nerthos Too late. My character was executed once because he was blamed killing the most powerful people of the continent at a gala by transforming them into monsters. But he didn't do that. So after that he has problems getting into any public position.

          1. @nerthos It's also DnD 4e. There are no prestige classes. There are themes in heroic tier that could be compared with that. Themes are more like paragon paths but in heroic. My wizard is a scholar. He knows every language known in the world and he can decypher magically encrypted texts.

            1. @broniebrown But he still can't get away with resurrecting a dark lord like any good lawyer would.
