      1. @scribus That's stupid. like, extremely stupid. I use the file container feature, not the drive encrypter.

        1. @techdisk Yeah, I'm both confused and miffed, too.

          1. @scribus Lucky for us it is (or was) open source. there's already people setting up new forks of it to bring it back.

            1. @techdisk It does concern me, though, since they said it was dropped for being insecure.

              1. @scribus That is actually complete bull. They released the current version of TrueCrypt (I don't count 7.2) way back in 2012. If it was insecure it has been insecure for almost 2 years. Also, this: http://pny.lv/2urj

                1. @techdisk That's part of what concerns me. If it is insecure, it's been that way for longer than some OSes have existed. If it isn't insecure, then why did they say it is? I'm picturing, external pressure. Malicious forces. A mid-to-late-90s techno-thriller plot.

                  1. @scribus As the article i just posted said, It's likely because they are quite protective of their code and don't want it being used after it was discontinued. what any sensible developer would have said is "If there happen to be any insecurities found in the future, you're on your own because we're not fixing them"
