  1. Oh old yet functional electronics.. Why are you so undervalued be everypony? Now I have a plan for most of my PCs. What should I do with my old SGS2 smart phone?

    1. @pony probably keep for backup in case my S4 dies.

      3. @thewaifutyphoon there's dumbphone, smartphone, then nice smartphone. you only need the cheapest functioning model within any given tier until you get to the top tier, then the newest and best counts for something, but I'l not planning on upgrading to an S5.. not enough of a difference for me.

        1. @pony I've been stuck with an LG Optimus V for the last 2 years Q~Q

          1. @thewaifutyphoon is it a smartphone?

            1. @pony hardly qualifies as one, but yes

              1. @thewaifutyphoon It might be all you need imo unless you want fast and the ability to play with better apps.

                1. @pony I don't think you understand how papayasty it is and what I expect a smartphone to do. Right now none of my expectations are met.

            2. @pony it's a low-end budget Android phone from 2012 I think. It can hardly run Gingerbread even though it's what's on there stock

          2. essentially a dumbphone since it's too slow to do anything worthwhile

Tuesday, 01-Jul-14 06:30:21 UTC from web
          3. @thewaifutyphoon There is an upper level of "dumbphone" that allows you to use it with SD cards as an MP3player, and that can be a worthwhile upgrade if it's a free or cheap upgrade.

Tuesday, 01-Jul-14 06:31:39 UTC from web
            1. @pony the thing is I have an MP3 player that's nicer and doesn't stutter the song, so there's no use in that. It also doesn't play video besides Youtube worth a damn.

              1. @thewaifutyphoon oh Youtube works? that's good. I think that's the most I'd ask of a much older or lower-end smartphone. Cinnamon might be able to tell you a lot more about different models and what they can do.

                1. @pony Wait how little do you think I know about phones, because right now you're giving off a definite "This guy knows absolutely nothing" vibe.

                  1. @thewaifutyphoon I have no clue. I don't think less of those who know nothing though. I've been there myself. I can't claim to be any kind of expert, just a user.

                  2. @thewaifutyphoon generally I tend to assume people know less so I don't confuse them.

Tuesday, 01-Jul-14 06:42:35 UTC from web
                    1. @pony Please don't do that in this context.

                      1. @thewaifutyphoon I don't get getting offended for someone kindly assuming I don't know something. If they're intentionally condescending then obviously that's not cool.

                        1. @pony I'm not offended, I just don't want you to assume that I'm ignorant when I've given you no reason to assume so.

Tuesday, 01-Jul-14 06:59:34 UTC from web
                          1. @thewaifutyphoon You also gave no reason for me to assume you knew anything. I find it troublesome to ask, "how much do you know?" every time I enter a conversation with somebody.

Tuesday, 01-Jul-14 07:01:47 UTC from web
                            1. @pony And I'm kindly asking you to not assume me ignorant unless I give you evidence to do so. I find it condescending.

Tuesday, 01-Jul-14 07:03:33 UTC from web
                              1. @thewaifutyphoon You're asking me to adjust what I do for everybody to suit your preference. I'm saying I don't mean it condescendingly. I can certainly try to remember you don't like it when I assume things, but I might forget, so I'm not going to give you my word on it. If you feel people think less of you simply for starting with the basics, that seems like a problem I can't be concerned with, otherwise I begin to worry everybody assumes I'm being unkind, no matter what I say. Others will appreciate what you don't appreciate, and vice-versa. Some, for example, would feel embarrassed for not knowing what I'm talking about unless I just kept it simple. I find your presumption that I think I'm better than you (that I'm being condescending) to be offensive. Why should you assume that of me?

          4. @thewaifutyphoon All depends on what you want to do. Frankly I was happy with the S2, but it was really slow starting up and even making calls sometimes. I could stick with the S4 for years to come.

              1. @thewaifutyphoon My main concern is that it works as a phone. My second concern is that I can watch videos and listen to music. If it can do that much it can probably social network which is my next priority. Anything more is icing. I do like to be able to install helpful apps like paypal and my bank's app, etc.

                1. @pony if I just wanted a phone, I would have gotten a dumb flipphone that didn't boast the ability to do more.
