    1. @yodelerty What drawing tools do you usually use?

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:33:16 UTC from web
      1. @caret7 "Usually use" implies I draw often. I'm trying to learn but I've only tried like two times because I don't like looking at my drawings. The answer would be a pencil btw.

              1. @voxxxrebel I'm probably good because I'll probably get sick of myself and give up in a couple weeks like everything else I try

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:44:44 UTC from web
                2. @yodelerty My drawings often turn out crappy, but I don't think that's a reason for me to give up.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:47:27 UTC from web
                  1. @caret7 Probably not but I can't find the motivation to continue

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:49:21 UTC from web
                    1. @yodelerty Fair enough. What do you like the most about drawing?

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:50:40 UTC from web
                      1. @caret7 At the current moment not a thing

                        1. @yodelerty What first attracted you to it?

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:52:07 UTC from web
                          1. @caret7 Cool artists who draw cool things I guess

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:52:32 UTC from web
                            1. @yodelerty I recommend this thingy. Drawing seemed much more magical when I first read this. http://rainbowdash.net/url/767909

                              1. @caret7 This seems complicated

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:00:47 UTC from web
                                1. @yodelerty Just hoping to help a fellow artist :). It might not be helpful to you

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:04:09 UTC from web
                                  1. @caret7 I definitely wouldn't call me an artist haha

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:04:43 UTC from web
        2. @yodelerty I draw with pencil and paper too. They're much cheaper and more universal than computer drawing tablets!

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:51:06 UTC from web
          1. @loveydoe Yes they are, also I'm not smart enough to operate a drawing tablet

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 03:51:37 UTC from web
            1. @yodelerty You're giving yourself such little room to be magnificent.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:13:33 UTC from web
              1. @loveydoe I am not one who could ever be magnificent

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:14:27 UTC from web
                1. @yodelerty With all the hard work you're want to put into drawing, I bet you'll beat the old Renaissance masters before too long. Maybe you could reflect on what you dislike about your drawings. After you know what irks you, it's possible to study and practice so that it doesn't anymore.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:36:51 UTC from web
                  1. @loveydoe I'm not really putting hard work into it as much as I'm trying to put hard work into it. Like, I want to. But I won't cooperate. I can't work up any motivation to draw anything. I'm psyching myself out because I feel I should have started learning something, anything, when I was a child or a teenager, not when I'm almost 22.

                2. @yodelerty Failure with your early drawings does not imply further, endless failure. Drawing only satisfied me after many months of experiment and learning from references. Over 95% of my drawings are scraps that no one has ever seen. I think drawing badly is a good sign, because it means one has more to learn and enjoy. Just my opinion :D

                  1. @caret7 Progress is always partnered with passion. But for anything else? I think it's up to you to decide if you want to really "improve" or not.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:44:39 UTC from web
                  2. @caret7 They endless cycle of learning is, at times, the greatest fruit of the art. Maybe we could all draw pictures for each other to get the drawing groove going.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:45:27 UTC from web
                  3. @caret7 Well dang. I've never kept at anything for months. My motivation always drains and I end up just spending all my time laying on the couch or browsing tumblr. Disappointment through and through and I hate myself for it.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 04:47:20 UTC from web
                    1. @yodelerty Haha! I didn't spend all my time drawing... I still went to school, watched MLP, and browsed the Web. I can't prove the worth of drawing to you; you have to prove it yourself. Your motivation is the finished drawing, but there are treasures in the process of drawing, too. At laest, that's how I see it.

                      1. @caret7 (sorry for the badly placed Haha)

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 05:27:34 UTC from web
                      2. @caret7 That's apparently not enough motivation for me. Maybe that just means I'm not meant to draw. Dunno. It's probably too late for me to learn anyway.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 05:29:09 UTC from web
                        1. @yodelerty Why is it too late?

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 05:30:04 UTC from web
                          1. @caret7 Because I waited until I was horribly depressed to try. Plus I didn't spend my adolescence discovering my abilities and interests like I should have.

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 05:32:38 UTC from web
                            1. @yodelerty Then this is where I'll stop. I am unfamiliar with cheering people up, and I don't know anything about you IRL. Sorry :( As a final note: You have a slight interest in MLP, no? And since you use tumblr, then some of your interests must lie there, right? My point is that you do have skills and interests--you are proficient with today's technology, and you are part of a very unexpected fandom. I bet there are many more favorable things about you. Good night, yodelerty :)

Tuesday, 08-Jul-14 05:53:22 UTC from web
                              1. @caret7 You'd think Tumblr would contain my interests but I just reblog random funny stuff and video game art.

          2. @loveydoe Also with pencil+paper, you don't have to stare at a bright screen.
