  1. We're assuming all thoughts and plans surface in dreams. This is untrue or else i'd be dreaming about driving to work all the time

    1. @princelypublictimeline When your plans include overthrowing a kingdom or committing genocide they probably tend to dominate your subconscious thoughts somewhat.

      1. @cinnamonswirl ok so what determines it? If i need to be X passionate enough about doing it, then id be having naughty dreams all the time. If it's determined by personal importance or survival/success/urgency, then the driving to work example would still stand

      2. @cinnamonswirl the bottom line is, we still know squat about dreams and applying a shaky understanding of that to a children's cartoon isn't going to work

        1. @princelypublictimeline How on earth have you managed to make "we just don't know" into an act of aggressive condescension.

          2. @cinnamonswirl im not being aggressive or condescending. Im just confused on why we were exploring the consequences of a faulty premise

            1. @princelypublictimeline based on the evidence provided by the series, the premise is not faulty. Sweetie Belle gets mad and gets revenge on her sister, dreams about the consequences. Scootaloo is traumatised by creepypasta, dreams she's in a creepypasta. Significant events or decisions in ponies waking lives actively influence their dreams.

              1. @cinnamonswirl but we're not sure that's a pattern due to them/their world, or just air-tight writing. Remember in shows/movies/comics that dreams are never meaningless and writers who use dreams always justify them in the narrative. Since we dont have enogh info to distinguish which of these is true, we need to start re-examining the validity of either the premise or claim

      3. @cinnamonswirl subconscience=/= dreams. Also, modern psychology debates the old idea of subconscience as a misnomer based on improperly applying spacial logic to something that does not behave in a spacial manner (aka what we believe to be the subconscience may not be that at all)
