      @greydragon412 ...have you tried doing wee illustrations? The stupider the better... if you have a "visual" mind, I find that helps.

      @greydragon412 Images based on Word Association is a possibility. 'member Mr Burns as a baby in a swimming pool (y'know, Nirvana's Lithium), chasing a burning book (a read flame... yuseewutididthar?). If you draw a picture of that, no matter the resemblance, you may find you retain the key aspects, even if for the wrong reasons... of course, this may only apply to my untethered, pun-based mindscape.
