Is senpai an acceptable replacement term for husbando (or however you spell that)?

@rarity I've seen some use them next to each other as in waifu/senpai. I know senpai's use in anime is very different, yet there's still that sort of obsessive relationship.

@pony senpai literally just means senior. It /can/ be used in a romantic context if there is a relationship between the senpai and kohai (junior), but that's the same as any word (onii-chan etc)

@rarity yeah. I mean I'm aware of the translation. You're right. I was just wondering if fans use the word senpai to talk about their senior anime crushes. Senpai can be used for females too right?

@pony well yeah, they totally can do that. If you look up to someone and consider them your senior, they can be called senpai. And I'm no Japanese expert but I'm pretty sure senpai is gender-neutral
