Today I learned that the Yugioh Anime came before the card game. That explains why the rules are so inconsistent in the earlier seasons.

@rarity I've never actually read the manga. I always had thought the manga/anime were just made to sell the card game but apparently that wasn't the case.

@ellieellie the first season of the anime never aired in the US and like Mushi said wasn't about the card game as much. I really enjoyed that season because it was pretty brutal compared to the childlike nature of what aired in the states

@rarity The first season was great. I guess I had thought that like, the first season of the show ran, then they made the card game, then the card game became the center of the show, but I'm realizing now that my logic doesn't make much sense. Of course the Anime/manga came first.

@ellieellie yes, that too, but there weresome random one episodes rule, like when Arcana used curtain of dark magician and yugi said that when a summoning spell is used it works for both players

@ellieellie but yes, there was an obscure season of yugioh in wich the pharaoh would chalenge criminal to games to punish them for their crimes in case they lost, duel monsters was one more game in this season, but people like it more than everything esle, so Kazuki made it the foccus of the anime

@ellieellie @rarity i never watched, but i read the first manga, i'd have bought the other, but R$13 for each volume was too expensive back then
