  1. For example: My great grandmother is white. She refuses to make eye-contact with my mother. At no point has she said to me or anyone else "YOUR MOTHER'S A doleR, KID"

    1. @mrmattimation I don't think that word could even be applied to puerto ricans

      1. @rarity The Spanish probably never used that word, you're right, but I don't think that matters to a racist.

        1. @mrmattimation we're talking about the n word right

          1. @rarity Yeah. It can be applied to any black person by a particularly ignorant white guy, regardless of actual lineage. Again, I'm descended from African slaves owned by the Spanish, and with my grandfather you probably couldn't tell the difference if it weren't for his very thick accent.

            1. @mrmattimation my lineage is more Taino indian but I'm sure that there's some black slave in there because Puerto Ricans are the mutts of the Hispanic world

              1. @rarity True that. Fairly certain there's some Native American somewhere in my blood as well.

                1. @mrmattimation Taino aren't really Native American IMO since they were primarily located in the Carribean

                  1. @rarity The caribean is part of america though, if not continental

                  2. @rarity Does that not count? I'd always thought the term could be applied to natives of both continents as well as the Caribbean.

                    1. @mrmattimation well I'm far from an expert so IDK. I mean obviously it applies to peoples from Mexico and South America too but I honestly have no clue about the islands

                      1. @rarity Yeah I think the islands count too.

        2. @mrmattimation The proper spanish word for a half-white half-black is mestizo

Tuesday, 23-Sep-14 01:07:49 UTC from web
          1. @nerthos Yeah, I know that, but nobody in the states really uses that word.

            1. @mrmattimation It isn't a slur either

              1. @nerthos Something about the class system in Colonial South America, I think?

                1. @mrmattimation Hm? No, it's simply a word to indicate the genetic makeup of someone, nothing else.
