  1. One of these days I'm going to sit down and actually play the Doom games.

    1. @redenchilada I've only played part of 1 I think. @jinny should know everything about them. Haven't seen him in a while though.

      1. @righteousnarwhal We should do a co-op playthrough of the two together. Probably do it under Zandronum or something.

        1. @redenchilada I'm literally clueless as to what you're talking about, but why not.

          1. @righteousnarwhal It's a ZDoom-based source port with improved online functionality. (And native Windows support, obv.) Haven't used it but I hear about it a lot from friends.

            1. @redenchilada But a source port would mean all the early 90's physics wouldn't work, making the game less fun, right?

              1. @righteousnarwhal As far as I know the physics would be pretty much the same, but I could be wrong. I'd have to check.

                1. @redenchilada I love '90s shooters with all the weird gravity and unreal friction/acceleration that can be exploited to dodge bullets

                  1. @righteousnarwhal I love 90s software renderers with their slime trails and visplane overflows :y

                    1. @redenchilada '90s games were amazing. Or really grapesty. Or both.

                      1. @righteousnarwhal I like the games like Tyrian and stuff. I didn't like Commander Keen. :C

                        1. @redenchilada Tyrian was decent but it isn't my genre. Played loads of commander keen as a kid though I didn't undersand what was going on as I didn't know english. I had it on a folder named "ken muñeco con salta salta" which translates to "ken [action figure/doll] with jumpy jumpy"

                          1. @righteousnarwhal I enjoyed Tyrian for being really flashy and challenging in later levels, though I don't play enough shmups to compare it. Keen just felt archaic to me, though I suppose it would've been more interesting when it was new. I probably just have high standards for platformers or something, idk, but it felt disappointing as far as early 90s games go.

                            1. @redenchilada I don't really like shoot 'em ups except for a few titles like Carrier Air Wing. Keen used to be fun back in 2000 or so when I was 7. No idea if I'd like it if I grabbed it now for the first time. I'd probably try it for a few minutes and never try it again.
