I looked at a few items on that website ( note that I am European myself, and I do not know any other hardware-places other than newegg as it comes to North-America ) and it seems to have an awesome compare ability, http://pny.lv/5dyw these are all the 1 TB drives that managed to catch my eye. ( 2 TB 2.5" ( laptop size ) hard disks are generally too expensive for my taste ). Now from personal experience I know that WD has never really let me down. The only thing you need to check is pretty much the availible size in your laptop. Although it rarely happens, you do not want your new laptop HDD to be slightly too tall causing the HDD bay not to latch. As for cloning your current HDD. I am not really in favour of such tactics but it should not be a problem as long as your hard disk sizes are equally big. Finally, I have no idea how American warranty goes as far as hard disks are concerned. Although seen as those laptops came with a free 60 day Norton Internet Security 2012 subscription...

@critialcloudkicker Your laptop did not have any warranty left anyway. And I am pretty sure that they can not forbid you to replace hard drives per extended warranty ( if any )
