Video games - I love platformers - my favorites are the Megaman Series and metriodvania games. Cave story is up there too.

Music- I play the sax and piano and love funk, jazz, and electronic. As well as video game music.

Fiction - I love dragons and lightsabers.

    6. @soren I know GNU/Linux when I see it. And that is Windows.

      1. @xrevan86 This was posted on RDN- I love linux and am a linux system administrator but I use windows at home.

        1. @soren This was posted not just on RDN but on GNU social ;-). I wonder what keeps you from FOSS at home.

          1. @xrevan86 Nope. I'm posting from Rainbow dash- they both use the same social software and apparently it's getting posted on GNU social as well.

Video games and cheaper .net framework deving. I know you can game on linux but I hate having to work to get each one working at 50%-80% the speed as they are on Windows. Hopefully Steam encourages a lot more people to make Linux native games. The Nvidia drivers are getting better too but we're still a long way off from linux gaming machines.

I am considering doing a Linux machine and gaming within a Win7 VM when I get better hardware- but I'm not sure how successful that would be.

            1. @soren GNU social is a name for this software. RDN can be called a part of it (there are details about StatusNet but whatever). And I just think gaming is overrated :-). At least for me. Books, movies, series…

            2. @soren steam came to ubuntu. There are plenty of games. Valve demonstrated that games run better on linux.

              1. @andresinmp but give me minetest.net any day of the week. Free software all the way!

              2. @andresinmp *Native games run better on linux. Put it through a compatibility layer and everything is thrown up into the air. There are plenty of games but most titles I want are still not native.

                1. I see, @soren maybe time to try something new? I hear good things about the humblebundle.

                  1. @andresinmp Most big games coming out are still Windows Only. I also play a lot of MMOs and there are no good ones for Linux.

Trust me, I love linux and if I wasn't a gamer I would use it. I work with Linux machines all day and have several linux servers. Windows is currently a necessary evil, and based on the trends it probably won't be forever.
