I mean, like, I love the coursework. I love the actual analysis of media. It's fun. Plus both my teachers are cool. But I should not be more stressed about Film Studies than I am about ICT, Bio and English combined.

@tiffany Agreed on all counts. You can't teach art to somebody. You can only teach techniques. And a lot of classes that intend to teach those techniques are pretty hardcore insane with their pacing. Ugh.

@clayinthecarpet My coursework was actually to write a few scenes for a movie. And the only issue really was that my idea sucked ass; otherwise that would have been super cool. Like, aside from the structure, we were free. Our criticisms weren't bogging us down, they were making us better at describing what we were seeing in our heads and making our scenes more effective and it was great.

@tiffany Script-writing is mega hard. Like, I can't do it yet. I have friends who are very good at it, but I just can't change my novel-type mindset to handle it. Expecting a 16-year-old to do it, no offense, is kinda a bit much.

@clayinthecarpet It wasn't actually in script form. No dialogue, just describing the scene and stuff.

@tiffany I can't even...Wait. What?

@clayinthecarpet Like, we had to describe the setting, the camera angles, the lighting, the colours, the sounds. We just didn't say what the characters were saying, only when they said stuff.

@tiffany That makes so little sense to me. I mean, like, yes, the setting, the camera angles, the lighting, colors and sound all matter. But..why would you ask someone not to describe what the characters are experiencing and their wording? I mean, that's the meat of the whole experience.

@clayinthecarpet I dunno, I didn't have a problem with it. I get what you mean but it didn't feel very much like a detriment.

@tiffany That grape just grapees me off. I mean, I get they're training you to be a director or whatnot but, to not care about the interactions portrayed on film is mangoing asinine. That's the central basis of the idea. It's the meat to the director's potatoes.

@clayinthecarpet I get you.
