  1. @metztli if # is your main reason for mistrusting Azure *more* than other proprietary VM proivders, I think you're kidding yourself.

    1. @wgreenhouse I mistrust Windows in general. I cannot fathom why you would ever use it for anything important requiring internet access when attacks like these are so easy to pull off.

      1. @toksyuryel My windows had a major Kernel error. I couldnt fix, had to reinstall it. Thankfully I gots 3 HDD's ^_^

        1. @renovatedkitchen I used to have two, but they both died at around the same time and I could only afford to buy one more. But I keep /home on a separate partition so that I don't have to worry about it should an OS install be needed (which generally only happens when I manage to screw everything up myself, as I have done on occasion); ideally I would have it be on its own drive.

          1. @toksyuryel Im sorry to hear bud :(. Thats what I do. I have a 1.5TB WD Green with the intellipower or whatever its called for movies, music and pictures, a 1TB WD Black for my music programs, games and all other programs, and a 32GB SSD as a boot drive

            1. @renovatedkitchen Hm, using a small SSD for /boot does sound like a pretty interesting idea. I'll have to consider that in the future when I have money again.

              1. @toksyuryel It is. Except when stupid programs want to dump their cache in c:\. GRRRRRR. lol. But I know you dont use windows. Buy one used from kijiji.com and then wipe it, write 0's right across to refresh it and youre set! ^_^

                1. @renovatedkitchen I tend to do all my electronics purchases through newegg.

                2. @renovatedkitchen And yeah I'm on Linux ☺ among plenty else, caching is performed much smarter here^^ (as is the way the mounting of drives is handled)

                  1. @toksyuryel I would send you a song to listen to, but you'll be spending the next while dowloading codecs for a .mp3 xD kidding :P

                    1. @renovatedkitchen I can listen to mp3s just fine :P

                      1. @toksyuryel After or before downloading codecs ^_^. Linux is awesome though. Each OS has its pro's and cons

                        1. @renovatedkitchen I install all of my media players with the maximum support for different formats that I can. I have support for things that in all likelihood nobody even uses anymore.

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 09:53:51 UTC from web
                          1. @toksyuryel lol. Thats awesome. All I ever use is iTunes. MP3's and ALAC files is good enough. FLAC support would be nice though.

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 09:56:50 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                            1. @renovatedkitchen Whenever possible I prefer ogg and flac, but I have support for just about everything ☺ my primary media player is mplayer2, which also does video.

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 09:58:32 UTC from web
                              1. @toksyuryel THats awesome. But, ALAC is still uncompressed, just takes less space. Which is nice :3

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 10:00:19 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                1. @renovatedkitchen ALAC is compressed, that's why it takes less space. But it's lossless compression, which means quality is not degraded.

                                  1. @toksyuryel Sorry, thats what I meant. I should sleep some. lol. Every OS has its ups and downs though

Saturday, 09-Jun-12 10:02:50 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
                                    1. @renovatedkitchen Certainly, but the few ups of Windows and Mac aren't really compelling enough compared to their numerous downs and the ups of my preferred OS ☺

                                      1. @toksyuryel Mhm. I really love Macs OS because its very tidy and They have Logic Pro, which I spent a long time learning :3

                                2. @renovatedkitchen ALAC is compressed, but lossless.

      2. @toksyuryel I wouldn't. but I also can't fathom why anyone would use a non-free VM host in general, be it VMware or Azure.

      3. @toksyuryel I certainly can't understand why the Iranian oil ministry used it for critical production work-maybe they will use Linux now.

        1. @wgreenhouse Considering the probable level of infiltration into such industries, it seems plausible that individuals planted there might be responsible for encouraging its use specifically to enable such attacks.

          1. @toksyuryel probable level of infiltration" according to whom?

            Saturday, 09-Jun-12 17:19:25 UTC from identi.ca
            1. @wgreenhouse The oil industry is a pretty big deal to most of the world as presently we still depend on it quite heavily. To safeguard their interests, most major governments would be likely to have at least some agents present inside of it.
