  1. Anyway, speaking of media, I've been thinking of the 3rd favorite game of all time because not having a top 3 is FOR NERDS (and no it's not Undertale or The Phantom Pain because I haven't finished them ;) )
(No actual spoilers for the game included)
It's Saints Row 2, because if there's one thing I want in a sandbox game, it's the ability to screw around to the maximum degree. It also had what SR:TT DESPERATELY LACKED, and that was just a lick of taking itself seriously, which honestly just made the ridiculous parts a lot more ridiculous, relatively. This is a temporal 3rd favorite, though, because I haven't played SR2 in a while and I love Undertale and TPP.

    1. @bonesbones Saints Row 2 is probably my favourite sandbox game ever off the top of my head

      1. @nightmarenarwhal This is implying you separate sandbox and open world though, otherwise stuff like Morrowind would a major contender

      2. @nightmarenarwhal I mean, I love ya, SR:TT, but you and your successor will never live up to the pure amount of amazing content in SR2. Plus, if you're on PC, you can make the vanilla game 2000x better with the Gentlemen of the Row mod, which pretty much fixes all of the problems the PC Port had while modifying the vanilla content with tons of tiny fixes.

        1. @bonesbones *vanilla SR2 2000x better

        2. @bonesbones Funnily enough I've been playing SR:TT lately

          1. @nerthos SR:TT is a great game, and I recently finished both it and SR4. Gonna replay SR2 and compare, and even though I'm sure SR2 blows both games out of the water, it'll be fun to see the exact places where the series evolved.

            1. @bonesbones I played all three of them in a row, first 3 since someone gifted me a copy, then 2, then 4 at release. 3 is a solid game, and is made much better if you add a mission replay mod. 2 has the most compelling and lengthly story of all, as well as the most options on what to do and how, though the actual gameplay is a bit aged. 4 is REALLY fun the first time you run through it, but out of the three is the one that misses it's charm the fastest. Once you finish it it's hard to want to play anymore, and things like vehicles feel useless. Technically though each is a direct improvement from the ones before, and I'd honestly like to play 2 in the engine of 4.

              1. @nerthos 4 isn't nearly as nice if you haven't played the other two though, as a big part of the fun is all the references and emelents from the games before. I feel like alone, it wouldn't make much sense.

              2. @nerthos I feel like I prefer SR2 over SR:TT and SR4 almost exclusively because of SR2's awesome mission and activity variety.

                1. @bonesbones It's a good choice. Likely the only reason I still have 3 installed and not 2 is because I played 3 first so 2 seemed really aged. I'm sure if I had played them in order as they came out, 2 would be my favourite. I'd like to try 1 too, but it's impossible as there's no PC port.

                  1. @nerthos The reason you don't have SR2 installed is the same reason I can't play Borderlands 1. Oddly enough, I played SR:TT first and 2 is still my favorite, so I guess I adjusted, most likely because I was used to BL1 being RADICALLY different from BL2. Thanks, Borderlands 1!

                    1. @bonesbones I did finish SR2 with AT LEAST 95% completion, and the secret missions. I kept 3 just to have a casual sandbox game around. I have a hard time with BL1 as well, even though I've played 2 a LOT. I didn't get much farther than rakk hive in 1.

                      1. @nerthos I've played BL2 about 30 times all the way through. I'm so used to the pace of BL2 that BL1 feels like I was taking speed in 2 and I'm off of it in 1.

                        1. @bonesbones That makes sense. I only did 2 playthroughs of BL2, with my main character, and a played a few other characters for a bit though not really far.
