  1. Wind Waker HD's use of lighting to increase graphical fidelity rocked my socks off!

      1. @northernnarwhal I've played both New Game and New Game+ to 100% on the HD version, and that took quite some time. The graphics really helped motivate me on that New Game+ mode because some of the quests in WW are lengthy afffffffffffff

        1. @bobo I think I'm one of the very people who actually just enjoys sailing around and embracing the world of Wind Waker, that game gives off this sense of grandness I rarely see in games twice its size.

          1. @northernnarwhal Isn't that the best feature in the game? if not for the immersion, it'd be quite boring.

            1. @skellythos I've always thought it was, but apparently lots of people really dislike it. I always thought the immersion of Wind Waker was immense, it has this overt sense of adventure that's hard to replicate and I absolutely love it.

              1. @northernnarwhal The thing about it is the weird graphics. I've always maintained that it's almost impossible to suck a person into a virtual world with "realistic" graphics. You notice the flaws and consciously know it's trying and failing to emulate the real world. A game with it's own, distinct world and look can draw you in, as your brain will have an easier time taking it as a "real" thing with it's own rules and details instead of comparing it to the real world. It's the same reason I'd get really immersed in 2.5D games back in the day and even get spooked by them at times, but I absolutely can't with any modern horror game.

                1. @skellythos Pretty much, yeah. Wind Waker had by far the most personality and identity of any of the Zelda games because of its distinct and charming stylistic choices, Link was much more expressive as a protagonist and not just a conduit for player agency so he felt a lot more like an actual character (the segments of his grandmother and sister along with his relationship with Tetra and her crew sort of strengthen this too). Wind Waker is immersive because as a piece of art it doesn't have to be bound on formal logic that exists in our world, it works on emotional logic and succeeds there in spades, articulating the classic heroic adventure story framed in a Waterworld-esque fantasy future incredibly well.

          2. @northernnarwhal I thought that Forest Water Delivery quest really showed off the scale of Wind Waker's world.

            1. @bobo I loved when you were going to the Earth Temple and got to sail around with Medli in the King of Red Lions
