  1. Man, A Game of Thrones is a slow read the second time round. Maybe seems to be because I remember most of what happened but not all of it, or portrayal of certain characters in the beginning. Maybe also because of reading through A World of Ice and Fire.

    1. @awl it is slow, I still steamed through the whole series first time round though

      1. @rarity I was really drawn in first time round, it felt like less than a week with every book excepting A Dance of Dragons.

          1. @rarity I'm OK with that to a point. I'd like to read through the series again first for a refresher but would rather not wait too long afterward.

            1. @awl Since you're always looking for stuff to read, check this when you have time https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hrolf_Kraki's_Saga

                1. @awl I'm about two chapters in ad so far it's great. It has a bit of fantasy stuff, but nothing big, but rather stuff that was commonly believed in at the time, like witch seers and the like. For example some characters are wary of an old man because he can "Trap the wind in a bag"

                  1. @nerthos I was actually considering brushing up on Arthurian books after finishing this series. Been in the mood for European mythology lately.

                    1. @awl That's something I should read about more. Arthurian mythology and the similar stories of the knights of Charlemagne.

                      1. @nerthos Oh yes, for sure, and somewhat similarly I meant to track down a good translation of The Secret History of the Mongols, which is mostly about Genghis Khan. Surprising what passing fancy becomes forgotten.

                        1. @awl If you find it on english or spanish, let me know. Sounds like a great read.

                            1. @awl Thanks. I'll load it on the reader thing.
