@mushi that's a Sardinian word too from what I remember; it means of the sort "what is it??"

@awl in portuguese it is a generic exclamation that works on any situation, but it is not censorable like the F word in english

@awl but maybe brazil took it from the sardinians, we also got "why" from english, but it is written "uai" it is for when you dont understand something, but not necessarily means "why"

@mushi could be or it was an old vulgar latin exclamation passed on to some of its descendants. Uai though. I like it.

@awl in the northeast they say "uai sô" that is sounds a little like "why sir"
