      1. @scribble If they asked me for such stupid stuff, I'd just lie to get the job. It's their own fault for asking stupid questions.

        1. @hakupony It's like asking for ones orientation, where's the relevancy?

          1. @scribble In the case of asking about northern irish people? "Are you going to bomb the store when you find out we're the type of christian you don't like"

            1. @ceruleanspark I suppose that IS exactly their viewpoint.... I dont even know how to make bombs

          2. @scribble In Germany, such questions even are illegal because they are a clear case of discrimination of religion (or in your case sexual orientation). I'm kind of shocked that such stuff is allowed in the UK.

            1. @hakupony Most applications deliberately say that they won't discriminate against your religion, sex, orientation, etc. shortly before asking for your religion, sex, orientation, etc.

                1. @purplephish20 "I'm not racist, but it isn't my fault either that all the lowlifes in this place are of the same colour"

              2. @thelastgherkin They need to fill up legal holes.

            2. @hakupony It's "unintended consequences" in action. Companies aren't allowed to discriminate, so to make sure they don't accidentally discriminate, they need to ask.

Wednesday, 27-Jun-12 11:46:53 UTC from web
              1. @ceruleanspark That's just stupid. By making up the difference, they make discrimination possible. If I don't know about your religion, I can't discriminate against you for your religion.

                1. @hakupony I know it's stupid. You know it's stupid, but what politician would dare attempt to repeal a law called "Equal opportunities"?

                2. @hakupony Sure you can. Person A: "Man, Christians are so stupid." Person B: "I'm a Christian." Person A: "Whoops, I just discriminating against you accidentally because I did not ask your religion beforehand."

Wednesday, 27-Jun-12 11:51:28 UTC from web
                  1. @thelastgherkin "Man, Christians are so stupid." isn't discrimination if I just say it where christians don't hear it? Interesting...

                    1. @hakupony Yes, but it's still a thing people do. Honestly, those stupid people and their sweeping generalisations of large groups!

                    2. @hakupony It may be discrimination, but it offends nobody if it's said on a circle of likeminded individuals.

          3. @scribble @hakupony They ask me for my exact racial features, it turns out the religeon question was northern island only, due to there being a LOT of religeos tension there, they havent asked me about my orientation, not that I expected them to

    5. @purplephish20 It's been shown time and time again to effect work productivity. It changes with management and stuff, too. If it's a social job, then it's possible customer discrimination thing.
