I just had a conversation with someone about evolution regarding it's core principles. But when your conversation partner tells you something like "Nature controls evolution". Yeah, you might be dealing with someone who has heard the bells, but has no idea where the sound came from... Which is a Dutch proverb, and I have no idea what the English one is.

@critialcloudkicker In my experience, even most educated people do not actually understand evolution. They still attribute a "direction" to it or believe that it always progresses toward better and more efficient outcomes.

@moonman Yes but saying "I do not understand it fully" when you do not fully understand it is still way smarter than to say something like "Mother nature directs evolution"

@moonman Yes but it is exactly that sort of mindset why things go wrong around here. I guess I should not complain too much as it is pretty much my job. Still it is infuriating.
