It's a really popular thing in some circles right now that I tried and didn't really like myself, and when I find myself at odds with that mainstream opinion I kind of really getting a thing for breaking down why I deviate from that popular sentiment, even if I don't end up publishing it as a review, though this one should be up either later today or maybe tomorrow depending on how my health goes. -
@nerthos tldr of review: Too many rough edges to recommend for 33$ CAD
The AI is dumb as a sack of bricks and you're not really given good enough tools to override it, so in an instant your settlers can do a bunch of stupid things that fails the whole colony and there goes 8-10 hours of work without any real way to recover. It death spirals way too easily for a game with as poor AI as it has. -
@maiyannah Man, a game about butt aliens would have been great. "They came in the great probe, but a malfunction left them stranded. Now they must survive on their own in the toxic, alien rim world"

@nerthos I'm sure there's only like fifty patreons for such a game. Maybe one of them even delivers something you can play.

@maiyannah I've been playing it a bunch recently and I haven't had a problem with the AI being too dumb yet. The closest I've come is accidentally cooking a prisoner to death. That said, it took forever to get the ludicrously unintuitive behavioural priority system set up in such a way to keep them from starving to death whilst chopping down trees.

@ceruleanspark My last *flips desk* moment was when the entire colony decided rather than dousing a fire, they were going to run into the middle of it and just burn to death.

And even going so far as drafting them, to take direct control, putting them outside of the fire, and then commanding them to extinguish the fire, was not enough to overcome their retarded AI enough to not have them pathfind directly into the middle of the fire.
It got to the point where when they started getting Potato Knishesed up for doing stupid Potato Knishes like that I was kind of happy, because they deserve it for being so stupid, the granite-faced fail-monkeys.RDN's Lucifer likes this. -

@maiyannah Amazing. I've had them all burn to death before, but that was due to a poorly concieved experiment in indoor farming gone badly wrong. They kept running into the burning structure to try and rescue eachother. At that point I just reverted to an autosave and aborted the experiment.

@ceruleanspark I had one raid where despite everyone being armed with rifles they decided they just HAD to charge and melee the guy with the rocket launcher.

@maiyannah I have the opposite problem. My brawlers won't equip a firearm, but then they won't actually melee anyone, so they just stand there and get shot unless I draft them and order them into the panic room.
