  1. One way you can have a surprising amount of fun with it is if you use the scenario editor and developer mode to set up a Fallout style vault scenario. Give them a pre-built vault and decent starting gear, but no tech or manufacturing facilities to replace stuff as it gets used up, and try to establish a functional, self sufficient colony from there.

    1. @ceruleanspark Now I want to download it. How much does it cost?

      1. @nerthos $30, but I'm sure it's early-access enough not to have any DRM yet.

        1. @ceruleanspark Expensive for an early access. Guess I'll do the usual and try it at some friend's or if it's not an option, download it and buy it later on if it's good.

          1. @nerthos @ceruleanspark It has a lot of potential, but needs the rough edges evened out and the AI fixed before I'd say it's worth it.

            1. @maiyannah Compared to something like Factorio, Rimworld is barely functional, but compared to a lot of other "Early Access" titles, it's not terrible.

              1. @ceruleanspark From the trailers I've seen, factorio is just fancy factory idle

                1. @nerthos You'd best be trolling

                  1. @ceruleanspark I've only seen the steam trailers, but it seems the same game, just much bigger. Like a wooden cart to a late 1800s carriage, but the same basic thing

              2. @ceruleanspark It's a money thing to me.

I paid 2$ for a more functional version of Mount & Blade when it was one of the first games doing that kind of thing.  I paid 5$ for a more functional version of Kerbal Space Program.  I paid 8$ for ARK.  33$ is a dear price for that kind of unfinished game.

I can't complain too much as RimWorld was gifted to me by a friend, but I couldn't recommend it to others based on the current price in good conscience, at least until it's more mature.
