    Aw crap. Our washing machine is broken. My father tried to repair it, it lasted for a day but it stopped working again. A new one is already ordered and will be delivered tomorrow. It's an expense we didn't anticipate so soon.

      @adiwan The 'race to the bottom' and people expectations that prices won't rise on appliances or electronics both pretty much guarantee that stuff will be made more and more cheaply as time goes on.  We should all expect the things we buy from companies that participate in that racket to last for shorter periods of time before failing.

        @takeappleakenji This washing machine is about 15 years old. It had it's fair share of turns. We expected that it'd run 5 more years until we have to buy a new one.
