  1. Pepe frog issues are new to you northerns, but over here there's a song from 1988 called "el sapo pepe", and in recent years a legal battle has sparked over that song and the character.

    1. @nerthos This is the "Feels good man" frog, right? This is seriously happening?

      1. @scribus No, I think this showed up over here as a children's character a bit earlier than sad frog's popularity http://xn--manualidadesparacumpleaos-voc.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Como-hacer-centro-de-mesa-de-Sapo-Pepe-2.jpg but I always found it funny how frogs and toads gravitate towards the name "pepe" even if separated by geographical and cultural boundaries, and reach both fame and controversy.

        1. @nerthos That alone is weird enough.

          1. @scribus The song was quickly forgotten until someone designed the character and attached the song to it, but after it became hugely popular, the original author sent lawyers to cancel a show by the person that had resurrected it, to steal it back in a sense and profit from it. You know, the usual reason why copyright is a bad thing.

            1. @nerthos @scribus Keep in mind that it had been 20 years or so between the song's creation and this resurgence, and the author hadn't really done much with it in all that time.
