  1. Yet as delores said, it's true that anyone who didn't agree with the "progressive" mindset was silenced and blackmailed. It happened a lot, and I've had it happen here with people I had literally never been rude or bad towards hating me simply because I didn't have the same political ideas they did. I don't deny that it happened to some of them in the past as well, though. But my hope is that the result of this election will force both sides to find a common ground and agree on HOW to move forward as a society without trying to gain as much field for either left or right whenever one gets a majority of support, lest this shifting from extreme to extreme keeps happening. With some luck, people will start being less demanding with the changes they want and more accepting with the changes (or lack of them) that others want.

    1. @nerthos You are much more optimistic than I am about any cooperation there.  Battle lines were drawn because people wanted to draw them.  They found validation in that conflict.  That is not going to change with the election results.  It's a self-perpetuating hate machine.

      1. @maiyannah I'm talking out of experience after living for a year in a country that went through the exact same thing, and also after seeing this progress for quite a few years, going from being an extremist in my teenage years to being far more moderate in many things. I know most people are incapable of it but I do want humanity to move forward a bit.

    2. @nerthos See, I like what what you just said, but unfortunately Americans deal in absolutes and anyone who doesn't fall on an extreme end of the spectrum will just be ostracized by both sides.

      1. @razzleberry Sadly it's not exclusive to USA. It's a symptom of idiocy.

        1. @nerthos Fair enough. I'm not as familiar with other country's politics, at least not on a wide-scale. I know a lot of Canadians I've met seem to be incredibly moderate, but that could be a lucky coincidence.

          1. @razzleberry Canada seems to be one of the most moderate as far as America goes, to be honest
