@tiffany So apparently the video of a masked thug punching a trump supporter I saw was a different one than the one you saw, with different victims. Also from what I've been reading the "black genocide" essay attributed to the guy you were talking about is actually just an edited document where someone replaced all instances of "white" for "black" and wasn't written by him.

@nerthos @tiffany I spend too much time defending Internet racism but the threshold for getting called a Nazi is as low as it's ever been. and a million people are now also like "and it's self defense to sucker punch Nazis" so I feel a bit justified in worrying about the implications of it for anyone who is politically to the right of a "whiteness studies" university professor.

@nerthos @moonman I recall seeing an image of people smashing a local Starbucks and looting them. The same Starbucks coffee company that gave an appreciable amount of money to Hillary Clinton's campaign.

@nerthos @moonman There is a minor matter of who actually has the military advantage though. Considering the commander-in-chief is a Republican and Congress is majority Republican and Republicans in general tend to view gun ownership rather favorably I don't think there is much risk.
In the Kristallnacht the aggressors also controlled the state and their victims weren't generally armed. -
@nerthos majority of ppl on twitter i see are just repeating the punch nazis thing because they need an acceptable outlet to unload the accumulated hate they normally have to keep bottled up to live in a polite society. It could have been any other group, maybe 400 years ago it would have been witches. on a day to day basis how many nazi skinheads are these middle class college feminists really seeing? might as well be witches.

@moonman Yes, but twitter bananaing and destruction of property and agression are two different things. People have given up the right to be armed and defend themselves in places like NY in exchange for the state protecting them. So the police should at the very least have hydrants there washing up the rioters.

@nerthos For all the people that say Nazis deserve violence because Nazism breaks the social contract of tolerance of others, there's that other part of the social contract that says the state reserves the sole right to enact violence for the public good. In that spirit I am happy to see cops use the violence of the state to deal with destructive protesters and people who sock nazis real or imagined.

@dtluna My point exactly. If one of them goes and say, stabs a jew? beat them up and throw them in jail. But if they don't actually do anything, they don't deserve agression.
